setting
You think you know someone... The setting: My bedroom. Characters involved: You. Me. Conflict: Everything. Resolution: You leaving. Again. I will never understand.
executive
An executive decision. That's all I need. Some finality, some closure. Can't you just end our suffering once and for all? I'm done with this, I'm done with you.
overhead
Planes flew overhead. Against the dark sky, they looked like shooting stars. Who am I kidding? THE AIRPLANES IN THE NIGHT SKY WILL NEVER LOOK LIKE SHOOTING STARS. Although, I could use a wish right now.
understood
"Do you understand me?" Silence. "I said, DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?" Oh, I understood well enough, all right. I walked out of that classroom and never went back. No longer would I let an administrator tell me how to act, how to feel.
stood
I stood up in front of my senior class proudly, and prepared myself to speak. Then I saw those eyes. The hundreds of eyes of the people watching me as I was about to give my speech as valedictorian. I froze, said sorry, and ran off the stage. I will never forget that moment for the rest of my life.
blast
"I had a blast last night," he said as he got into the car. I thought I'd never see him again. I moved on. Twenty years later, he passed by in the grocery store. He didn't even blink. Neither did I.
eternally
"Eternally yours." These were the first words he said to me on our wedding day. Things always seem to come around full circle. "Eternally yours." These were the last words he said to me, before he took his last breath.
delight
As a kid, I used to be delighted when I was given a simple ice cream cone. These days, it's not as easy to reach a euphoric state. "Happiness" comes in the form of money, and therefore, greed. Why has happiness become so unattainable?
seconds
The seconds ticked by, slowly but surely. I watched them pass, wondering when it was going to be my time. Finally, they called me into the doctor's room. It was then that I found out the truth: I had thirty days to live.
