sleeping
If sleeping could cure everything I'd never wake again. Which is not to say I'd like to sleep forever in the sense of taking my life away, but it is a way of saying I'd like this pain to subside and these worries to melt away similarly to that of your own world when you were here.
wealth
You know you were the secret to this nation's increase of wealth. You were the secret weapon for every harsh moment that came our way. Yes, I have begun to write about you in past tense. You shouldn't think about that too much. Just let it kick you in the gut so you remember every time you look back that you messed up. You fucked up, Babe.
passport
"Something tells me if you had a passport I'd never see you again," you whispered as we stood in line at Walgreen's for the next available photographer. "Darling, you could come with me, if only you wanted to see the world as well as me," I answered as calmly as possible.
lint
Maybe your name is just lint in my pocket that doesn't get removed 'cause the dryer is too full. And I guess that you could just be a face sitting in the foam of my third cappuccino today. Perhaps you're just another scar that won't have the time to fade in this life.
perspective
Darling, you've got one hell of a pair of eyes. The clarity and the perspective are so amazing that you could be the epitome of art
cabinet
They say that when I was little I would climb through the cabinet and sit on the shelf with the captain Crunch box and giggle to myself. When they found me and asked why I was laughing I exclaimed that I was talking with the ghosties - my most fun friends. Until the day I couldn't reach the shelf anymore, and they realized the ghosts were really angels telling me it'd be okay - even when I couldn't play anymore.
crystals
There are shattered crystals within your eyes that tell the world you've known pain, you've seen the depths of loneliness and your heart has been abused a couple times. But there's a light around your heart that's still so bright you refuse to be brought down by the darkness - and everyone can see that clearly too.
collar
She wears a goddamned cat collar to school everyday, it's made of black felt and a name tag - just in case our perfectly behaved classmates decide to start a fight and she dies in the middle of it. She keeps that collar on at home too, especially if her boyfriend's there taking up all the bed with his "massive manliness" but it's just so he knows what to call her when everyone can hear them. There's a collar modeled after the one she tried to make for her own cat and she won't let it out of her sight. Because collars make her feel safe - knowing someone will always leave milk on the porch and food by the bed.
treasure
Treasure these words you've got filling your mind from the headphones pressed so deeply into your ears. Remember the way strangers get you through every moment of your life with as little loneliness as possible. Taste this emotion streaming in and out of you as you move from second to second experiencing it all.
oven
If all the world were an oven instead of a stage would we be any closer to fully cooked and developed at birth, or would we all just come out too charred to care about racial differences? If all the world were an oven instead of a stage, couldn't we be better versions of ourselves in a number of ways?
