unknown
I didn't know anything. At least that's how it felt. The room was dark. I didn't know which way was up or down - I'd lost that ability a long time ago. Or just recently. What is going on?
dusk
I woke up at dusk. The sky was still grey but darker than it had been when I fell asleep. How long had I slept? Two hours? Two days? The feeling of grogginess wouldn't go away. I didn't want to know the answers to those questions. I just wanted to go back to sleep. The rest of the world didn't matter.
commission
I had no idea what I wanted to do. This company commissioned me to build an installation that exuded their message. Their message made me feel dirty, though.
withered
The flowers had long been withered but there was no point to throwing them away. The vase was barely visible underneath the plates and papers and garbages that had piled up since he had left. She was out and about, but didn't care to change anything about the interior of their shared space.
strike
Strike. Strike. Strike. What they want me to strike for? I was pretty content with what I was doing and what I was being paid. They complained a lot, but this was my first big girl job and I thought I was being treated pretty fairly. Hmm... What to do.
collapse
I collapsed into my bed, carefully, as I didn't want to break the old wooden structure. It had been a long day. Most days were long at this point. I didn't know how I kept moving forward as the stress had continued to build and build. There was something to be said for that metaphorical back burner people often mentioned.
declined
Declined. Every application had been rejected. Where was I going to go? I'd outstayed my welcome at home and no one had room for me. My internship was almost over and now my credit card was declined, too?
church
The ancient building reached into the clouded sky like a behemoth. Its windows were dark but when the sky was light or when lit up from inside, the windows glowed all colors. Some walked into the church and others walked right past it.
