sidetracked
My hearts pulling me one direction, But my minds tugging me towards The flashing, the lights, and the warmth That lit up snowflakes and images of us Could bring me. Sidetracked, I succumb.
drain
My drain is full of cake batter and icing and trader joe's rice with raisins and peas and pineapple and all of this other stuff that makes my mouth feel weird. As gross as it is, a drain might say a lot about your day.
library
All you can hear through the silence is Wind on the other side of the glass That keeps you safe from the dark. But the glass is threatening to collapse Under the pressure of the night.
mythology
Should I let myself be led by the words That were strong enough to transcend through time. Or should I follow the words that have been said before But didn't survive past the night.
typewriter
Everything is laid out before you Waiting for you to take what you want And make what you can. If only our life could be as easily controlled As what is printed on paper By a typewriter.
boa
Feathers litter the ground Where a bird used to stand Waiting for the day When a breeze would carry him away. Feathers litter the ground That is untouched by any breeze And follow the footprints of a bird Who finally gave up on waiting.
stick
Falling and tumbling past other More fortunate branches I envy those Lucky enough to keep holding on for Just a moment more. Falling and tumbling past other More fortunate branches, I'll watch from the ground as all I get Is the chance to wait someone to step on me.
wrong
When my heart stops beating, But I'm still alive I can feel myself creeping Slowly away, further from the truth. Stumbling in the darkness, My solitary footsteps leading To a place I'm never wrong.
sheets
The silence separates us like thin sheets I'm close enough to feel you breathe But my fingers grasp on lifeless cloth Instead of warm skin. I want to feel you with me But we both know Neither of us will take that chance. So this blanket of snow will settle On the life we once dreamed And never achieved.
