rally
A pep rally is what I need right now. Or a vacation. Probably the latter since it's been a year since my last vacation. Soon. Very soon . . .
trade
Right now, at this moment, I wish I could trade my job for anything else. Well, maybe just retirement. But working on income taxes with the deadline just two days away isn't my idea of fun. More like stress, stress, stress. Am I in the position to trade my paycheck for early retirement? Not likely. Oh well, let's forge ahead.
division
Long division. Yuck! It was bad enough with short division but now the teacher wanted 40 examples of long division by the end of the class. Who did she think she was?
pepper
Her hair was salt and pepper gray. More salt nowadays. She debated if she should dye it because she had started to look like her grandmother. "What should I do?" she asked her friend. "It's simple," said her friend. "Do what makes you feel good."
salt
She was the salt of the earth. That's what everyone said. She was as real as it got: a hard worker and regular churchgoer.
offer
What a great offer! How could I pass this up? A full-time job with benefits, along with a fantastic salary. There's only one hitch. It's in Greenland. I mean, who lives in Greenland?
mist
The mist was just enough to get us damp as we walked through the woods. It gave an ethereal look to the trees as the sun tried to shine through.
chance
There's a small chance that my neck won't hurt during tomorrow's board meeting, followed by the annual meeting. Perhaps the neck pain is due to the pressure of having everything ready, being prepared with my presentations without sounding like an idiot, and at full attention. Perhaps. Just perhaps.
secretary
She was super-secretary, although that term was rarely used these days. To be politically correct and non-offensive, she was called an Assistant. As if that made a difference in her job description. But she could do it all and loved it.
destruction
Destruction was all around. The storm left a path of destruction all the way to the shore. Branches were strewn all over the road.
