delve
Digging deep down into the shelves, she pulled out all manner of items - yet none held any interest for her but the book.
delve
Falling down through the water, her hair floating, tendrils pulling, and she waited with arms outstretched. Her face was cold, kissed by ice and she wished for a star to fill the sky with light.
mumbling
The sarcastic mumbling below was driving him crazy. He shook his head and lent over the edge. "will you two just go to sleep?" and they giggled and laughed. This was going to be a long night and he wondered why he thought a sleep over would be a good idea.
attracted
She was attracted to the way the ribbons fell in the wind. They were stung up along wires, hung from the trees to the tops of the pillars. Each ribbon was a bright and distinct color, no one was lost among the others.
anchor
The anchor sat on the lawn, once used but now forgotten. some grass had grown around the bottom, climbing up. Birds used it now, sitting, and watching. I liked seeing it from my room. Its prominence in the garden seemed fitting.
trench
The trench was low and long. He'd spent all afternoon digging. The vile Brothers had tried to thwart him but they couldn't. He'd dug and dug and dug. He stood, admiring his work, when a huge wave crashed down, and washed more sand into the hole he worked so hard on digging. He sighed and turned to his mother.
punished
He sat in the corner waiting. His small shoulders shook and he kept his head down. Outside he could hear the sounds of the party. Footsteps approach. "Kevin...?" It's his mother, "What are you doing?" "I...I'm sorry mama..." "What's wrong?" "I broke it..." His mother sighs, hands on hips.
vines
The grapes grew in rows outside her room. The smell of them wafts in on the breeze, gently playing with the curtains. She watched from her window as the men worked, picking and sorting, making their way down the lines.
vines
They grew like arms, along the wall of the house. Pulling at the timbers and snaking their way through the windows. Along the ceilings and floors, spidery fingers finding cracks in the surface. The bugs they attracted were brightly colored and beautiful.
bagel
A bagel sat on the bench. Two large, green eyes watched it with keen interest. A small charcoal paw reached out and gave it a swipe just as Suzy came round the corner. "Hey!" She laughed, picking up the little cat.
