trophy
I held the shiny prize in my hands and turned to look at my friend. He smiled and blew a puff of dark grey smoke into my face, waiting for me to cough. "To bad you have asthma." His whisper shook me as I hacked and he walked away without looking back, only hearing my 'prized' reward fall loudly to the floor.
sticks

cigarette
He held it an inch away from his mouth and blew smoke through his teeth. When I started to gag, he apologized and turned away to let it blow onto the highway. I heard the cough of a girl and turned to see a hitchhiker keeling over on the white lines. Apparently she couldn't handle the smoke.
plague

mean

expecting
I waited for the ship to come out of the mist. It was mid morning and I had heard the horn not long again, and I would be oh so delighted to see any kind of vessel, sinkable or not, rise from the depths of the sea to save me.
chores
I dragged the wagon behind me as I walked across the beach. Sweat dripped down my brows and my muscles burned. This hurt so much I was ready to die. But these were my chores- later I would have to go through the process of taking the salt out of the water, but for now I was attempting to bring across the sandy stretch.
