academic
One of those words that's usually followed by another. But then again, it is an adjective! How can it just sit there by itself? Cliches, typecast, buzzwords, they all make us think the same. But can you think of the word I was thinking of? Yes? No? Does school turn us all into marionettes, thinking alike, speaking alike? It could. Rhetorical questions need to stop now. Don't you think?

legion
Maybe we're all our own gods, our own followers. Make space in your mind to be followed to see to be observed, to be seen. There's no one out here like anyone else, so maybe our beliefs come from within should be directed within.
beware
Beware of what they tell you. Because than it'll all become tiramisu. Which is gross. Yum. Hot chocolate. Beware of what turns up on your thighs.
leathery
I took his leathery palm in my hand and began to read. I read the years of hard work spent on tilling the soil. I read of ropes burning his skin and he pulled the water up from the well. He could see her lips, cracked from years of wind storms, with no words to say. But her eyes, he thought, her eyes looked sparkling new
grasped
He grasped the rope with all his might, pulling with what little strength he had left. The sinews scratched into his palm, aggravating his wounds as he pulled. But he had no strength left. His grip loosened, he slid, and let go to fall into the abyss below him.
society
Surrounded, everywhere. You can't go anywhere, there's a wall trapping you there, alone. A wall of thoughts and misconceptions, a wall that does not accept you.
themselves
And so they carried themselves, off and away, to a distant place no one knew of. No one cared. That's why they left in the first place. Did you believe it? No, of course not. Why would we be writing about them if no one cared?
teach
Far away, what can you learn? What other facts can your brain rightly earn? Go far, dear, travel around It will teach you far more than what's on the ground.
