  2. plus represents a part of the most dreaded subject in my academic career: mathematics. i hate math. it has all been incomprehensible to me since the day i began learning.

On the the other hand, “plus” also reminds me of that the fact that I have someone else with me since this January. My significant other is the greatest to ever happen to me and I am nothing “minus” her.

  7. One plus to the modern TV system is that you can never miss a show. Like ever…. between the net, free catch ups, DVRs and everything its impossible to miss anything. We live even more in a 24/7 society and now it doesnt matter if your compulsary night out interupts your fav show. Its amazing the power of advertising. People are so worried about making their brands public, they piss money away to stuff like this rather than actually invest in their product….madness!

  20. … or indeed minus. It is a mathematical sign – a human invention, like all random patterns of our age, but is a less important than a letter? Surely one cannot construct sufficient language from an albeit complex insignia.

  39. He was a mathematician. In all of his classes, his students sat there in complete and utter silence–unable to answer questions, unable to add to the conversation. Finally, he stood in front of the chalkboard with a piece of chalk and wrote a plus sign. “What does this mean to you?” he asked.
Finally a girl raised her hand–the first in the history of his math classes “It’s a plus sign”.
“No kidding,” he joked, “What does it MEAN to you?”
The girl put her hand down. Suddenly a guy shouted “It’s what you put between two numbers to add them together.”
“Yes,” said the professor, “But we don’t have to be adding numbers. You could be adding anything. People, places, recipes… Let’s forget the math today and talk about THAT kind of plus sign.”
