fresh
She stood in front of the produce section, frowning at the apples. Her mind was elsewhere, she barely even saw the apples in front of her. She didn't know how long she stayed in that same place, mind a thousand miles away, wondering the same thing over and over again. What am I going to do?
horses
Kel stared at the four-legged beast, and he frowned. The long shaggy mane was matted with mud and knots. Helios had told him to take care of the horses, but how was he to do that when he hated being near those things?
shepherd
He hadn't meant to stare. The castle guards were guiding the crowd of people down the road, pushing and shoving those who dared to fall behind the main group. It was not a pleasant sight. Most of the crowd had been injured at one time or another, and their bones showed clearly through their skin.
automatic
He stared at her, hesitating. Every part of him wanted to say no. He wouldn't do it, wouldn't continue to do her bidding. How many people had died because he always agreed? But he ignored these thoughts in favor of looking into her blue eyes, and he bowed his head, and said the words she wanted to hear. "Yes, m'lady."
awakening
The sounds of chatting old women woke her up more than the bright light from the sun. Kennah opened her eyes slowly, and for a moment she wasn't sure where she was. Oh, right. She had meant to ask Narcus if she could stay with him last night, until she remembered that she was angry at him and didn't want to talk to him. Sleeping on the street definitely wasn't her first choice.
comfort
Jaelle pulled the blanket further around her and the warm body lying next to her. Soon they would both have to get up and begin their day of hard work. She wouldn't see Riyah until later that night. Riyah was still sleeping, black hair falling into her closed eyes, and Jaelle reached out to brush the strands away. She hated the thought of waking the sleeping girl.
radical
The man is crazy. He has to be–there is no other explanation for it. And yet, it is impossible for me to take my eyes off of him. He is completely infuriating and downright confusing. But still I crave his presence, the sound of his voice, the warmth of his touch. Maybe I am the one who is crazy.

dull
Kel wasn't sure why he had once thought that traveling to a new place would be exciting. He had imagined adventure and duels and saving damsels in distress. It was supposed to be fun, and interesting. Instead, there was only walking. And more walking.
warfare
He wasn't visibly armed, but she knew him well enough to know that he was bound to have some kind of weapon hidden beneath the layers of his clothes. Carise didn't trust him completely--she didn't trust anyone. But she knew she didn't need an army when she had him to fight for her.
