defined
I am defined only by what they can see. No one dares to look deeper to see who I really am. But I don't care. I'm nothing important. I blend in easily.
confide
I confide in the trees. I tell them my secrets and they never give them away. They're also very good story tellers. The pictures in the bark, the scratch marks, the woodpecker holes; they all tell a different story.
starlit
I gaze up at the starlit sky and wonder if he still thinks about me. I wonder whether he'll keep his promise. I wonder whether I dreamt him up or if he was actually real. I wonder if he's looking up at the same sky.
cinema
I sat in the cinema waiting for the movie to start when I heard it. The small cry for help that changed my life. It seemed that no one else had heard it but me. I immediately went to go investigate.
unkempt
She came out of her room, her hair wild and unkempt. She was very upset that we didn't believe her. It may seem mean of us not to believe her story, but it's just so wild. No creatures exist that are half unicorn and half lion.
televised
The televised woman walked over to our dirty ragtag band with a smile. But, unlike many others, I could see straight through her. She didn't care about what happened to us; it was just her job to make others feel sympathy towards us. But I knew if she was asked, she'd help our attackers in a heartbeat.
struggle
I struggled to get out of the water. I could feel it's weight tugging at my legs, my arms, my shoulders, pulling me into its unexplored depths. I could not breathe, I could not think, all I could do was make myself sink deeper. Deeper. Deeper.
doubled
They had doubled in size. The ones we were supposed to defeat by Sunday. And to think, back at home I should be having a nice breakfast with my family after a morning of tending the animals. This was nothing I was used to. I could work hard, sure; but this, this was too much for a simple farm girl like me.
