  1. He reached out to read the scrap of paper with her messy shorthand. Dots and scribbles that no one else could understand… In that moment he knew that she would never reveal herself to him.

  2. I can’t write in shorthand and all
My early teachers despaired at my futile attempts at cursive.
My print was such that caused curses
(and attachment of curxive practice sheets to returned work)
And my typing slow as an eighty year olds first attempt at
One of those “new fangled machines”.
It is the height of irony I ended up with writing as my passion.

  3. Chemistry is gradually becoming my worst enemy.
The longer I look at my chicken scratch notes, the more hours I study, I less I understand it. Greek letters begin to float away, numbers flash like colored Christmas lights, and my scientific shorthand starts to dance all over the page, momentarily imprinting itself into the undersides of my eyelids.
I used to try hard, so hard to get a good mark in that class, only to be disappointed with my substandard scores. Now that I’ve stopped trying altogether, I am surprised to find that I still have the same results.

  4. Is this not shorthand? is life not shorthand? is everything not a quick rapid expression? so fast so meaningful, so meaningless. im supposed to be continuously writing. hows that for shorthand.

  6. shorthand is a type of writing that i can’t do. i’ve always been curious to learn but haven’t had a chance. i think it would be an interesting and helpful thing to learn for later on in life.

  9. shorthand stands for longhand it’s ironic. one is short one is long what’s the difference? tell me it’s obvious I will tell you that I cannot see. spend the rest of your life trying to convince me. at the end of it all I will tell you that all you needed to do for me to see clearly was step out of the way.

  10. Olivia remembered the last hearing. She remembered writing everything down so she could look at it better later. She used to always do that, writing in shorthand abbreviations so she could keep up. She didn’t do that now. It was too dangerous. She hadn’t realized what her sister had said until she had written it down. That’s when she knew that it was a mistake to have told her. That’s when she knew she had to do what she had done.

  11. I am not good at taking shorthand.

  12. The shorthand on the time will be moving, always moving. Changing, always changing, and yet it is a constant.

  13. Crazy? I used to be crazy. They put you in this room where you die. Die?! I don’t wanna die! When you die they put you in the ground with worms. Worms?! Worms are crazy. Crazy? I used to be crazy. They
seee with your own eyes they

  14. shorthand, what is this a short hand or is it a writing form. Hmmmmm, I wonder if it were a person with a shorthand if they would have a short foot, or short body, or short finger. Maybe they could be a short-order cook. haha. Sometimes it can be a shorttime rather than a short hand.

    by debbie on 05.08.2012
  15. shorthand is a word that is two in one! short and hand. and plus hand rhyme. lalala shorthand makes me think of short stop like in baseball..”i have a shorthand” uh…I wonder what shorthand really means…hmm, is it describing a hand? i hope so!

  16. When the shorthand and long hand reaches 12 on the clock you will turn back into the person you were before. It’s from cinderella lol… but i think it’s telling us that dreams don’t actually come true..

  17. Shorthand-
    A hand is short
    The time ticks on
    The seconds pass
    Slowly
    Sand in an hourglass
    Smooth pebbles
    Love flows like a river
    Stops at nothing
    Love bumps and bruises
    Shallow skin, sunken bones
My lips taste like salt and so do your bloody knuckles
    Hitting the concrete.

  18. There it is, like weak cheap coffee. I never say all that I want to say. There isn’t enough time to let it brew. There isn’t enough time.

  19. welp my shorthand is like yo whatup how you be whats up yknow how goes it. Pretty fly, right? Yeah, I know. Actually my shorthand is talking to myself. Not sure if thats what shorthand means but y’know it’s whatever broski. Well this is interesting.

  20. He shot the ball through and it was all net. The crowd went berserk as the time all drained out its energy and it was certain. It was certain that the team, their team, with all their hard work, with all the sacrifices, the sweat, the sorrow, it was all worth it. It was thanks to this shorthanded team that was never shorthanded in their effort and conviction. They once embraced defeat and now they vomiting it all out.

  21. Not the lengthy prose you try to impress me with. No. Instead, the bare minimum. Just the facts. A language that only makes sense in your head, foreign to mine. Between the abbreviations and the chicken scratch, you become human. I like that.

  22. I gave her a shorthand essay about five speed fast. With words that didn’t rhyme or didn’t seem all too bad. I quickness in mind, a sharpness in skill. I used a shorthand to finish up and continue to fill. The lines that continued, thereafter was a time when one man suggested I give him a dime. So I continued to write in subtleties, uniqueness and poise. As to sway opposition from all readers I drifted their attention to a man who teeters. Off balance on a rope, so high up he might fall, strangle, and choke. All I need now is a reason to keep on feeding this lines with optimistic thoughts and feelings. What is left but an A+ reading?

  23. Shorthand makes me think of two different things. The actual meaning, writing in a short code note and information you wish to use at a later date and a miniature pirate. I don’t really know why the second one comes to mind, maybe I am thinking of Peter Pan or something.

    by Felicia on 05.08.2012
  24. I never notice that life can change shorthand…even without notice.

  25. Personality. Cracking, splitting graphite. Scrawled inspirations, ideas, stories, legible or otherwise. A definition of who is writing it. Swirls that come together, as painted by you.

  26. I hate writing in shorthand. It doesn’t make any damn sense. I mean the kind of shorthand that people are taught because apparently there’s an actual practice, rhyme and reason to shorthand. I thought it was just whatever I wanted to write to help me get the gist of what was happening. The fact that there’s actually a format and formula for it is ridiculous.

  27. For a second I was
    Going to embark upon
A story about girl scout cookies
But then I realized this refers
    To writing
    Or maybe a stumpy limb
    It really all depends on
    How you look at it
    Does it have anything to
    Do with the other hand?
What is with all these things about hands?
Long hand? Is that something else?

  29. “Anyway, gotta go…love talking to you :)”

    “Me too ;)”

Looking away smiling, then, staring a bit longer this time, said their goodbyes. Leaving the court room after taking his shorthand class, Doug continued his part of the conversation, whispering…

“I love your hands, gorgeous smile.”

    She too,

    “your deep green eyes…”

Oh, hysteria when they think of each other.

  30. I write shorthand only when I have too many things to say, when my words trip over themselves on their way out of my mind. When my thoughts are disorganized, clustered, confused; just like me.

  31. I was passing through the hallways, curious as to the new refurbishings. Until I heard a creaking from down the hall. I was supposed to be the only one here today. No one was to disturb my work. Probably just the house settling down. That’s what I thought until I saw a silhouette hanging from the outline of a noose. What a day to be shorthanded.

    by Mike Thompson on 05.08.2012

Now I am worried about my participation in the office gossip, banter, and general talk amongst colleagues. Tomorrow is another day, and I will live to “keep my ideas to myself” another day.

  36. He sat down at the writing-desk one morning, and found, much to his dismay, that nothing came to mind.

The day was fine; the smooth sunlight slotted through the windowpanes onto clean floorboards, illuminating dust-motes in the air, was warm, but the page remained resolutely, stubbornly blank.

    News to me.

  40. I’ve never seen anybody with short hands, well yes i guess i have. This may look stupid but i kinda don’t know what to write for shorthand. I mean people can shorthand money i guess. But is shorthanding stealing, lying, or cheating? I’m absolutely sure it is.
