Slowly everything crumbled. My hands were shaking and I closed my eyes as I felt the sand drip through my fingers like soft water. The rocks shattering as they hit the ground, the sea foam hitting the cliffs, tearing the world apart atom by atom. And I stood in the midst of this chaos, feeling complete.

She looked me in the eyes, telling me again and again that nothing bad was going to happen. That no one would step out of this with something missing. And I believed her. I believed her until she left me. And then I missed her. And then she was no more. With her was my heart, broken and torn from my chest, that was what I was missing, too.

Still with their wings in the air, still with their eyes gazing low. A soft scream echoes through the night, a small and gentle bow. Tip the hat and say hello. For you never know, what'll spur the crow. Death with his scythe is never far away. Never far from the brink of day.

Holding on to the surface, I reach out and I pull another cold breath. Sweating and panting from exhaustion, I slowly stand up. Back to back. My knuckles whiten as I push the trigger. A last defense. A clashing sound of iron.
