That child was too young to do that face so well. He wore a frown whenever they left, and this they did often. The hardest part of looking back is knowing the child knew exactly what was going on.
instill
The thoughts swirled together in one great wave in colors of blue and purple and pink. The point was simple enough. And it soared through the skies. They watched. And waited. It was time to instill wonder. Time to let their imagination breathe.
bonfire
It was a perfect night out on that beach. The bonfire illuminated our faces. And we smiled and made smores and listened to the ocean. I walked out to the shore by myself. The stars never seemed so bright, nor the sky so clear.
desolation
On and on, further they go. Their sweat was there only sign of water. Their fear of dying was there only comfort. Among the desolation lay miles of sand and hundreds of degrees under the sun. In truth, they had nothing left but these: sweat, tears, and heat.
