television
I don't even know why, but I found myself sitting in front of the television with Mark. His eyes were locked on the glow of the set and I seemed to not even be an afterthought. I reminded myself that the only person at fault in this situation was me as I knew that I would be disappointed. I should have ignored his texts, I should have fought against my stupidity.
left
There was nothing else left but to just finish the paper and hand it in, knowing completely that I would fail it miserably. Why I thought it would be an amazing idea to drink copiously the previous night was beyond me, but I knew that all I needed was to get out of this room and back to my bed where my unavoidably hungover, yet loveable, fiancee would be waiting for me.
alarmist
My friend Breigh is quite the alarmist. Every little thing sets her off and once she gets going it's impossible to bring her down back to the land of normal people. "He hate me!" She shrieked one night after her current love interest refused to pick up his phone. "Or he's busy" I interjected, annoyed and half listening, trying my hardest to pay attention to the news.
cards
The deck of cards fell to the ground and I knew I had one mere seconds to react. Ducking in time, missing the swipe of the blade, I jumped out of my chair and rolled towards the door. Getting to my feet I barreled out of the room and into the main foyer, not looking behind me once. Grabbing hold of the door knob I felt my stomach lurch - it was locked. Turning, I faced my pursuer and braced myself for a fight.
tangle
I didn't know how I managed to get myself tangled in the mess that I now found myself in, but I was neck deep. I looked at the stack of papers before me and let out a defeated sigh: there was no way I was going to be able to make sense of any of it tonight. Pushing it aside I took a large sip of wine, got to my feet and padded towards the bedroom.
revolt
There was a huge revolt in the city when I met him. I couldn’t stay long, as the crowd was becoming more and more hostile by the minute, but for the moments we locked eyes I felt as if I were in heaven. And he smiled as if we had known each other for a million years. An explosion close by woke me from my stupor and I began to run. I didn’t look back, even though I wish I had. And just like that I began my search for love.
