  2. I dislike whims. Even though I tend do to lots of things on a whim, they very rarely work out and I end up feeling miserable about them. Some people work well with them or just aren’t bothered by the consequences, but I’m more of a planner – I like knowing each step. i wish I was more carefree though.

  12. Again, on a whim I ran away. The distance shortening to where I was going, yet even I don’t know where. Maybe to a place where a whim is logic and logic is not. Such feelings are fantasy, aren’t they?

  17. on a whim, I came and went to nowhere in between, some things I see never change. As such I run and continue on my way as if nothing had happened. I ponder such things, and begin to take pause. This is how it is. This is what I am and sadly that will not change.

  18. It wasn’t a whim that took me across the country. It was a deep-seated feeling that had been denied but still grew. A long time coming and I finally took the chance. I took a chance on you.

  19. Apparently I acted on a whim. When he crossed my mind every moment I would wish for a chance to say what was left to die. But when you asked a denied.

  20. He’d taken the idea on a whim. It was crazy, wasn’t it? It was crazy and spontaneous, and he just wasn’t a crazy and spontaneous person. But renting a hot air balloon to tell a generically nice girl that he thought she was even more than rather nice turned out to be something he didn’t think about. Not one bit.

  21. Whimsical does not mean “doing on a whim” or “acting on a whim” or “likely to act on a whim”, despite what my English class believes. Whimsical is unicorns and rainbows and magic and happy gold etc.

  22. On a whim Isabella went to get her hair cut short, something “urchin”, which might show off her cheek bones. Unfortunately the end result was rather more prison inmate rather than young sophisticate. Isabee

  23. Your actions were based on a whim. You could never have realized the impact that they would have. It caused ripples through lives. The effect was so wide spread it damaged people you didn’t even know. That you couldn’t know.

  26. My life is rehearsed. I live it in my head and, most of the time, don’t even go through the real life motions after I’ve played it out in my mind. I guess there is little difference between living something in your head and living it in real life. That is no way to live.

  27. The epitome of the moment. Not really thinking, just doing. An extreme confidence that projects an image of envy. Fun. This is what I want to be. This is how I want to be thought of.

    by Christian on 01.15.2011
  28. A whim is what someone decides to do when a thought quickly pops into their head. They haven’t thought much about the outcome, but they’re going to do it anyway. Example:

“Today I need to cut the grass and get groceries and . . . hey that dinosaur sure looks fun to ride. I will ride him.”

    Often a whim ends poorly.

  31. A quality found in the other sex. When they don’t care about you enough…or rather, they just care about themselves too much. If only they could feel the same thing as the same time then it would not be a whim anymore. It would be a mutual agreement.

    by Mary on 01.15.2011

  39. He doesn’t know where it comes from. Suddenly he just grabs his bags and buys a train ticket going to nowhere. He breathes the unfamiliar air of lands he’s never been to, smiles at the views he’s never seen before. He loves it, he loves the way inspiration and a sudden whim take him to places he thought he’d never visit.

  40. Sometimes we, as people, do something on a whim. I don’t personally like to. I like to plan everything out. I like to have a schedule, and when that schedule is deviated from, I get a little peeved. I need to work on that, maybe do something on a whim from time to time. It sounds like it could be good for my growth.
