  1. one word. one word to write about. what will it be? god. what the hell does one write about, one word? i’ll write about what i see no – i’ll write about what i hear, when i say the word. then, i’ll just, carry on, and compare the word to its opposite i guess. nothing too smart. something bright with a short vocabulary. i do hope it’s a short word. nothing too syllabic, or clever. god. what the hell am i going to write. i know. i’ll start with the word, teacher. i’ll go from there…. teacher

  2. after being heavily influenced by my teachers at school(Some were fair, some were firm, some were plain unfit for anything other than being a sadist). I fell in love with learning and realised that the only way that i can stay in school is if i join their ranks. So i am now in my second year of a teaching degree and wondering…will they like me? can i make them love learning? and if in doubt….wheres the exit?

  8. I never liked one. I think that’s why it’s goal in life to become one. To be everything I wished I had in them. Those mentors that led me astray. Those misguided teachings. Those horrible mindless robots that taught worthless information, and kept a closed mind toward their students. I never hand one I liked…so I’ll become the enemy.

  18. Dear one word readers,

Here is a message for all of you. Life is short; surprising and unexpected events can drastically alter anyone’s life in but a brief second. These events taught me I don’t know what. They taught me to appreciate every moment with a dear friend.

    Peace.

  20. I don’t understand why most kids want to be a teacher when they grow up. I also wonder how many kids still want to be teachers when they get older. I also wonder how difficult it is to get a job as a teacher.

you’ve got a lot to learn
and there’s nothing left for me to gain
I’ll give you up and take
    that which I’ve earned
you’ve got a lot to learn

  25. We are the teachers of ourselves. We learn from what we perceive and we interpret how we want. We shape our own world through what we, our teachers, want from us and only then can we realize that we are not individual robots molded from our society, but our society is what is molded from us!

  27. the teacher taught me how to spell. in fact, i knew how to spell without her help. she even told me i spelled better than her. im sure i did. she asked me everyday how to spell things in class. it would seem normal for a student to outperform their teacher, but i was only 12 and in the 6th grade.

  29. I remember mr. B. He handed out business cards on the first day of eighth grade with his hoe number and the words I care. He wanted us to call him should we need a sober ride home, or needed a confidant. I enjoyed that year, and thoroughly tried in his class, despite the dull subject of Us history. Later, as a senior in high school I needed a letter of recommendation, as I had dropped out and begun to attend Junior College but wanted a better education. And it was to him I turned in exchange for the letter, I volunteered in his class aiding the 6th grader with their spelling and more. I saw him in new light soon. He was newly divorced and looking for god. I could see that he was not an all knowing being, but another man.

  30. First thing. Meulmester. Haha, talked about his nephew today. He was a cool teacher. Loved it! The class was great and everything, I have Melton this year and she’s pretty good so far. A little bland, but I’m sure she’ll get better. Can’t wait for the school year to progress. To busy with junk work, let’s get down to the real stuff yeah?

  31. One time when I was at band camp, I slept with the teacher… no I really didn’t. I didn’t go to band camp and I was 23 when I lost my virginity. It wasn’t with a teacher either. It was with the kid from Over the Top… he was a grown up by then.

  32. A teacher matters, speaks truth, shows the way. Don’t argue but ask many questions, learning one, to follow with intelligence, to love the process, give yourself fully to the walk. Teacher matters. Student also teaches.

  34. I was a teacher. I sucked at it. I taught high school kids my first year out of college. It was the worst job of my entire life. I woke up dreading every single day. Later, I taught adults at a university for public-credit sort-of class. That was actually fun.
But I hated, hated, hated high school kids.
Does that make me a horrible person?
    Hmmm…..

And looks like a teacher’s life is not easy

  40. The idea of teaching is a form of reproduction. It is the act of passing on something like genes, information. Teaching puts that information in a form that the developing individual can process.
