  6. She could feel the wind shift and glanced up at the sky nervously. Getting caught out here in a winter storm was not something you’d enjoy. Watching the clouds move for a minute she guessed she might have enough time to make it to the old cabin before the storm hit. If she was lucky it would just be snow. If she wasn’t, well…

Jim could tell there was a huge storm brewing. He took his hat, his battered old lunch box, his spade and hammer and ran to the van which was parked on the lane 100yards away.
As he ran outside the dilapidated croft he could sea a water spout over the sea. It was close, too close. It was huge, a great whirling mist of sea at its foot.
He could hear it coming closer as he flung open the van door. He flung his tools and lunch box onto the van floor, Jumped in, fired up the engine, rammed into first gear floored the gas pedal and drove the old van hard down the lane.
He could sea the twister in the mirror, receding.

  16. The calm before the storm. That’s how the saying goes but really, is it so calm? The storm was being walked out of my work. The “calm” was being told 4 weeks ago this was happening. It wasn’t so calm. It was frantic looking for work when 60 other people were doing the same and there was a freeze on hiring in other departments. Maybe the freeze was the “calm”?

  28. storms are very nasty. They scare dogs and cats, and can cause great problems in human life. To think about it in fear only is rdiculous, as storms can kill people, disrupt electrical signals (as seen last week in the Euro 2008 match) As i have said, storms are very dangerous, and they are mostly caused by varying wind pressures and air pressures.
