  10. when i was little there was a pool in our backyard that the landlord rarely cleaned. As a result, it was usually full of crap. I hated it. The red wooden fence was usually chipping paint all over the place that got stuck to my feet. I hit my head on the pool edge. This pool and I rarely got along. I don’t remember if there was a diving board, but if there was, it was broken.

  21. this other time when i was a kid my dad took me to his apartment pool and i started like.. shimmying across the pool along the edge. i was terrified of deep water, and didn’t know how to swim, but I went out anyway. too far it seems… I tried to kick off the wall and swim or sink, and i sunk, to the bottom of the pool. I was down there, almost unconscious when my dad dived in and saved me. fastest I ever saw a 300 pound man move.

And all she uttered in my ear was “Here, he lives again.” I gasped, she smirked, the floor, it creaked. And now I wonder why. I think I may just cry. Digress.
