legend goes that ancient greek gods are the gods of otday and every element has a god. the lockness monster protects the lakes. mermaids are real. they live in my bathtub and i wish i had a tail.
There once was a myth abotu a girl who jumped off a building and flew across the world. THis girls name was Jenny Dawson and it is very true. she jumped of the eiffle tower and sprouted wings ans beautiful as an angels and flew across the world.
it was a dyonisiac night that we have. the candles were lit and the banuet was ready. there were girls serving us and the sacrificial bull was being ready to be slughtered.
a beautiful concept. A folk story that inspires a people, a word that evokes a sense of fantasy and a longing for it’s story to be real. Everything we wished we could believe in but know better than to do. A collective desire of a whole people.
Something that people so very easily believe! It’s almost as if the word ‘myth’ is a myth in itself. Perhaps one day people will knock of all this myth nonsense and start understand that reality is real.
Myth is separated from legend by its cloudy feet, in opposition to the solid feet of semi-real characters like Paul Bunyan. Myth is home to gods, superheroes. In the modern day, it would seem that many people interpret our God as a legend rather than a myth, which is sort of alarming, really.
Sometimes I think God is a myth. What if there is no afterlife? What is there is nothing worth living for? What if some guy just decided to make everything up? Would I change how I live? Would things be different? How am I basing my life on something that I don’t know could be true?
That there is a perfect body. That there is a perfect weight. That even if there was, that any of us would be able to achieve it. That the way that we are now is not okay. That we aren’t alright.
God is a myth. He doesn’t exist. If He does, I can’t stand him. Why do babies get sick and die? They are innocent. It makes me so fucking lonely. I want to die.
myths aren’t true. but there is truth in myths. from myths we learn about who we are, who we were, and who we can become. the catch? we have to believe. we have to believe in the unbelieveable. that is how we change the world, how we change ourselves. Man is no longer man. Man becomes myth.
Something that isn’t told, you need to think of even overthink about it. Nothing can be proven and it is even harder to know what is true. This word makes things harder, you can make it even into a rumor. Myths are hard.
The Greeks had their myths and we have ours. In fact there was probably a time where the Greek Myths weren’t myths at all but were in fact fact. Over time, of course, as new ideas came into vogue, what was once know as truth came to more to be known more and more as myth. The lines are blurry. What do any of us really know anyway?
I think of Aslan the lion, of God metaphors. Perhaps religion? I dunno, myths help people understand things, help them wrap their head around something incomprehensable without scientific knowledge, in humanity’s quest for understanding.
