  7. the hard white light gleaned off the cover of my new textbook, as i held its heavy weight between my palms. the binding crinkled as i opened it, and i smelled the light odor of fresh pages in my hands. i cringed: math.

  8. my toenails, for instance, they are glossy. I like the way when she’s done painting the color, the woman bends over my toes and adds a final layer of shine and glitter so that they will look freshly done forever, that is until the paint starts to chip, which it will sooner or later, usually sooner rather than later

  11. magazines are glossy my personality is glossy my friend’s eyes gloss over as I talk about my day but for some reason I’m captivated when they talk about theirs? Maybe I should gloss over my life with fakeness and I will make more friends I will be less real and more approachable maybe I will tell stories about parties and just talk about my toenails and family and maybe the weather? or is that too deep.

  12. paint, paper, catalogues all sorts of things, very prissy and girly, mmm gloss, i don’t like gloss magazines, i much prefer the paper magazines, especially recycled paper ones, like toast catalogues, yeah!

  13. In the midst of glossy is loss. We all win and we all lose. Glossy just covers up something terrible, like everything shiny. Just a cover up. Loss..Shit Happens

  14. Shiney, object that catches ones eye immediately. Glossy, there is nothing negative that I can see about the word. It’s a word that almost always captures my attention. The funny thing is I’m not too fond of glossy things! I know it sounds like a contradiction and it is just that. Glossy when I really tap into my feelings about it, reminds me of something cheap. But then again, I love the snow white, glossy kitchen cupboards and the light effects and airiness it emits, that enhances a kitchen into something other than the normal brownish, have to cook environment that I dislike because cooking is just about the last thing on my to do list. So in that regard white glossy kitchen cupboards remind me of sunshine and good days.
Other than that, anything glossy like, satin clothes or knicknacks and the like… turn me off to no end.

  18. the glossy sheen of the car hood denies us a true mirror – the taint of red or black or blue or gray does not represent a true reflection. perhaps the wax coat protects us from seeing what we are – we are not machinists, we are men.

  21. The surreptitious shine that covers your skin draws me closer. The way you gloss over the events in your life makes me want to know more. I can see the smirk behind your eyes.

I want to know your secrets. I want to see why you smile.

  22. It was beautiful. The paper’s finish shone with the sunlight. The colors even more radiant than I’d remembered. The photo was somehow better when it was in my hands and not just on a screen. Though lighweight, the physical print carried so much weight, so much more meaning.

  23. The glossy fur on the wolf’s body rippled with the muscles on his body. He ran and ran, enjoying the strength he rightfully deserved. All was right. Hearing the summons, he quickly went to his master’s side.
“Nighteyes, we must leave. The enemies are here” He said.
    Nodding, the wolf left

  27. Glossy paint on new walls and the glossy fresh sheen of a new start. A new place, new neighborhood, new lease on life. I’ve sold the glossy-finished car and painted my nails a daring glossy shade of sky blue, and there is my freedom, in these details. Here I have changed my place, hoping to change my luck, and see a new face reflected in the glossy shine of my new stainless steel stove.

  30. This is the type of pictures I prefer. I really don’t care for matte prints, as they don’t have the same presentation qualities. Glossy photos present better, and don’t feel weird like matte prints do. I like glossy lips,

  31. Glossy hides the not so shiny parts. Glossy is for church day when we try to look the best we can despite our hateful thoughts and bad decisions. We are glossy.

  32. she stared down at the glossy photo paper, just for a moment before feeding it into the printer. Finally, she would be able to capture this moment. She clicked the Print button on the screen. The image on the computer was aged and had a crease through the top third, but she and her father were still clearly visible, she all of three years old, stepping on his feet, and he a fresh-faced 28-year-old, the last Christmas before he went off to the Gulf and never returned.

  36. They thought I like to read glossy fashion magazines,
but I’m not a least bit interested on that subject
and it’s only a substitute for my favourite pastime.

They thought I like the colour of pink
because my room is painted pink and I wore pink,
but pink is just the substitute for my favourite red.

They thought that I love pink very much
because I only ate strawberry flavour Pocky
but it’s only a substitute for a cigar that I’ll never be able to chew.

You thought you are the only friend I have,
but you are just a substitute for an imaginary friend.

  37. However glossy the image may be, I never expect the picture to be what it claims. Yes, there may be a plump child of five sitting in a rocker hugging a white teddy bear and smiling hugely. But look closer. Yep, there it is. Lurking beneath the shine–a skull.

  38. this is a word i am not really sure about. I wish I had been given a different word. Something like lilac or poseable. Honestly, what am I to do with glossy? The surface was glossy? Who wants to read about that? This really is one of the worst words I could have possible recieved.

  39. The covers of magazines lying on the bed shine in splintered sunlight. Beautiful women on the cover, smiling, telling you what you want. It’s not that simple, nothing’s ever that simple. Your hair will never be that glossy, your skin will never be that clear, you will never be that perfect.

  40. the sheen on the fish’s belly was reddish gold; it looked like it would be slick and clammy, but despite this somewhat offputting impression, it was definitely beautiful. It had obviously been laying on the bank for at least half the day; flies were grouping around its eye
