  2. good times now, come on… brian ferry thought as he blew on the dice. he needed to roll a sweet sweet seven to win, so he could buy back the wall-mounted gold limited edition record or more than this, which he traded for a pool refurbishment full of beer back in 1997, which was, he realised, possibly a mistake.

I think more people should celebrate. Maybe I am just in a sappy mood.

  8. The parties were happening everywhere. Hosanna imagined that every other block had some sort of shindig going. After all, it was New Years eve: it only comes once a year.

“We are once in a life time…”

She found herself humming the tune to herself as she crossed the slushy street. The lawn decorations were extravagant, as they were every year. The reindeer, sleighs, snowmen, it was all the same paraphernalia that happened every year. Hosanna imagined how it would all look in the morning.

“Like litter,” she thought. “Out of place, cast off, the old in the new year and out of place.”

She looked at herself. Her jacket was old, worn by at least two people before her, but it was ready to retire after the first. Her boots had lost all their insulation, and the souls of her feet squeaked against the rubber bottoms. There were no holes at least. That was something she could celebrate.

    “Hosanna.”

She remembered the song from Sunday School. Something about the blessed coming before the Lord, then, Hosanna! Hosanna! As a young child, she had loved the song, if only because it called her name. She would dance around to it, clap her hands with her siblings and parents, their fake smiles and rehearsed hymns like a penny show at a carnival. It wasn’t until years later that she learned what it meant, and she laughed.

“Irony,” she thought. Irony that she had so much, and now she stood here. Irony that she had danced then, but stood still now.

“Hosanna…” she whispered, and then began humming the lyics to another song as she moved on down the street.

“We are once in a lifetime…”

  13. There was a banner above the doorway, drooping further down than it should have been. Past the door the ground was littered with confetti. On the table stood cups half full with soda, juice, or beer. All they were were reminders of something that was no longer mine. Everything was rushed away suddenly, and I didn’t want it back- not now. The case took precedent over my celebration. I was better, that was true, but in my line of work a gunshot wound happened. There was nothing left to celebrate now that the case had turned sour and there was nothing i could do since it was the case of my shooter.

  14. I should celebrate everything I have accomplished and how far me and you have gotten these past two years. Look at us. We’re still so in love and though we’re so far apart, I’ve never been so close to anyone. I love you so much and I can’t wait to celebrate more and more years with you. You’re wonderful and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you, I love you.

    by Kelsea on 09.20.2011
  15. Today, I celebrate a life lost; one that I can never hope to get back. He was the greatest, and I never even deserved to know him. I had loved him, and he loved me, which was an impossible thing to fathom. How could someone so great love someone like me? All I really can do now is celebrate the wonderful person he was.

“Yeah. But I wish I had more confetti. You can never have too much confetti.”

Full of friends, full of safety, full of so much pleasure we excess. 25. One word? Well that would be the word clueless.. It applies to a lot of things right now. How I’m going to be doing this school year, where I stand with my job, my roommates and their logic or perception on how the real world works. I’m clueless about my life but i think it’s going to be okay.

  34. There was not much to celebrate that evening. It wouldn’t be long before everything was over, but for now there was nothing to celebrate. Once the ordeal had passed people could begin to relax and enjoy themselves. Today though was a somber day filled with sorrow and serriousness. Only a few more days they told themselves and that was all they needed to know.

I get so caught up in what I don’t have that I forget to remember the amazingness of what I do. Europe was good for me – I learned that friends matter so much more than I remember they do when I’m wishing I had the kind of love that I want. I am so grateful for them every day.

  39. Since I was 5 years old I’ve known the true meaning of birthdays. Cake. Cat shaped carrot cake. My mom still makes them every year. Does this make me happy? Well I guess so if it makes my mom happy. But is this for me? No. Its for the desperate grasp at the past. A feeble attempt to hide the dark side of reminiscing, that the moment is forever gone.
