  1. birdhouses are cool. Me and my bestfriend had to paint one once when we were like 8. His mom always fed the birds.

Ok, actually birdhouses aren’t that cool. They’re just there. But birds are cool. So i’d think that their houses are at least equally as nice.

  2. I have this birdhouse and it’s full of nest like stuff. I think I see an egg. A blue egg. A brown egg. Maybe green eggs and ham. But I like spam. It’s who I am. Maybe I’m Popeye. So back to this birdhouse.

  3. a place where birds like to live. it is a small house where there is food for them and gives them shelter. birds should like birdhouses but sometimes they do not use them. they are man made and usually made out of wood. i made a birdhouse once.

  4. I gave both sets of grandparents birdhouses for Christmas. I think as you get older you like to watch birds more. I still haven’t figured out why that is. My grandma always tells me about the band-tailed pigeons when I visit. Is it because they can move easier than she? Escape?

  6. Actually and honest-to-whatever, I’ve got one attached to my garden shed. No inhabitants as yet (and it’s been there for about nine months) – I’ll have to take out a classified in the local newspaper, thus ensuring we get a better class of tenant: literate avians.

  8. The birdhouse hung empty under the sagging boughs of the tree, sadness oozing from beneath it’s eaves. It ached for springtime, for the quiet chirping of chicks.

  13. Birdhouses are pretty and fun to make. They make a fun family project. And birds like them.

  14. I got one from a kid who was selling them at the library during a kid’s craft fair. I felt she painted really well but still think her very unmodern clothing was uncomfortable for her, however it was probably a religious background forcing her to wear the high collared ankle length dress. Only 13 years old I’ve ever seen

  17. There was a birdhouse in my tree when I bought my house. The tree was already starting to grow around the bird house. I thought it was so interesting that the tree was growing in around the birdhouse. We left it there, and now the tree has swallowed up the house!

  18. It’s too cold for birds to be in there birdhouses. There are ice cycles everywhere, and the birds have flown south for the winter.

  19. a birdhouse sits in my yard. there are no birds because it is too cold. the snow must melt. then there will be birds to hop and eat and make me smile.

  20. Sometimes when I look outside, I’ll see the birdhouse that was left at my house before I moved in to it be mine. And I see the same birds go there everyday. It seems like they’ve been living there for some time, even before I moved into this house. I always think to myself, how many bird families have lived in that same birdhouse, and for how long?

  25. Birdhouse is a house for birds. It keeps them try and warm. It also keeps birds cool. They even can have babies in there. BUT also can house nasty little wasps and yellow jackets nests. They are pretty to look at and can help you bird watch. They are very educational!

    by Andrea on 12.30.2009
  26. One time my brother made a birdhouse. It’s still laying against the garage, empty. Last summer some wasps built their nest in it. I think we sprayed them away, but I can’t remember. The summer is lapsing into a bunch of platonic memories.

  27. fun watching birds come and go, come and go… eating the seeds that I’ve left out for them. Maybe some spring, a young birdie couple will rent out the little birdhouse and build a family… cute little robin eggs, speckled with blue. Looking forward to Spring!!!!!! Are you?!?!

  31. I was just thinking about birds. About the magnificent avian warriors who stay the whole winter up here in Canada. About how mcuh I appreciate them, and how much I resent those damn geese with their yearly free pass to Florida. I always feel like they take summer with them when they go. If the tiny little chickadees can stick it out, why can’t they?

  32. I stared at the birdhouse for several hours, waiting for someone, anyone, to call. I don’t know what I expected from them – perhaps I had delusions of grandeur – but I couldn’t help but think that they were going to.

  35. When I was a child, my mother used to have this incredibly obsession with birdhouses. She used to wander out back, sit on our hanging porch swing and just watch the birds as they came and went from one of her many houses. I used to wonder why she used to do that and until recently had no idea. The feeling of intense relaxation and peace from sitting there watching such a beautiful form of life was almost breathtaking.

  37. i hate birdhouses. birds don’t even want to go in them, and old ladies decorate their houses with them, and they’re just so dumb. like a bird wants to go into a little gazebo, or church, or schoolhouse. that’s just crazy.
