danced
And they danced the night away. They knew, once the night was done, it was all over. So they kept dancing. And dancing. And dancing some more. Moments of sheer bliss. Moments of wonder. All trying desperately to stave off the morning.
stalk
They stalked across the field. Slowly. With purpose. No matter how quickly Ned ran, whenever he turned around, there they were. Shambling just behind him. He quickened his pace.
camp
We made it back to the camp. It was just a short trek, but we really weren't sure we'd make it. Cal needed to be helped during the final leg. The wolves got him pretty bad. We think he's going to make it, but it was pretty scary.
earring
All they had was my earring. Yet, somehow that was enough to track me down. Somehow their "wizards" and obsessives at their lab performed some kind of magic and traced me. From an earring that I dropped on the ground. One fucking earring.
desk
She sat there, hunched over her desk. They were the same notes she had been pouring through all day. Maybe they would say something new this time. Hopefully. Her eyes were heavy as she scanned through the same paragraph for the hundredth time.
entice
"Could I entice you to try this?" he asked. "No, it really doesn't look like something I'd like," she replied. "Not even just one bite?" "I'd rather not." "What if I tried it first?" "Do you really want to stick that in your mouth?"
hood
His head was obscured under a hood. Sleek and red, it draped a shadow over his entire face. I'm sure he wanted it that way. There was no way to read anything about him. No tell. No facial twitches. No body language.
flip
"Come on, it's an easy flip!" he said. He was laughing. Maybe he was trying to be encouraging, but it just sounded mocking. An easy flip. When you're twenty feet in the air with no net below you, there's no such thing as an "easy flip".
attendant
The attendant walked up to their table and handed them the wrapped bag. A quick nod of his cap and the attendant scurried off. They both looked at the bag with odd, inquisitive looks. It was small, and such an odd shape.
duration
"Just stick with it through the duration of the next part," they had said. At the time Matt didn't think it would be that bad. But at the time Matt didn't understand just how bad the next part was. Now he was withing that he hadn't mad such a seemingly benign agreement.
