I was always looking. I was always looking for that one great idea. The one that would make everything better. I needed to find the idea that would take my family to a better place, that would stop money from being a problem. The idea that allow money to mean what it really is, just a thing.

The leaves always remind me of her. The red of her hair stuck out as the leaves do against the green grass. I used to like this season when I was a kid. Jumping in leaves and starting school. Now school is more like a prison, and this time of the year only reminds me of her. I don't feel happy when it comes anymore. I feel empty.
skeleton
The skeleton came creeping up slowly. It wrapped its skinny, hard hand around my neck and squeezed. It drew its skull in close. The hollow holes where eyes should be stared into me somehow. And then all was black.

She could still smell them. The flowers her playground lover gave to her that day in the rain. The sounds of raindrops assaulted her ears. She longed for that playground lover to come back. From the playground, to the alter, to the grave. She could still smell them.
