It’s supposed to be forever. So why do I think that forever isn’t long enough for this one? Is there a word for a promise which goes beyond the end of time?

So what is a promise? Was everything a lie?
I promise to keep you warm in the winter. I promise to hold your hand in a crowded street or an empty one. But what good is a word. Words don’t have purpose or feeling, words are letters connected by invisible glue. I promise to make this more than a word. More than a string of letters. I promise to withhold every promise I make to you.
Promises are the easiest of all comitments made and also the cheapest. Promise the sky and deliver a mouse. That is unfortunately the fate of most promises.
promises. They are hard to keep sometimes and they can hurt people’s feelings. Promises to yourself are even worse. I promised to myself that I would work harder in school and here i am, just beginning a paper that is due friday.
I promise to share and be a friend, ‘ she says to the rest of the girl guides. But what really is a promise anyways? Empty, lost, unfulfilled words. That’s what they are. Yet we all seemingly pretend we know what they are. We all seemingly forget how important they can be to some people. What a shame.
They promised her advancement. Then they said they couldn’t do it, but
they’d make up for it with a raise. But then they said the budget came
up short; maybe she could take off a few extra days. But then the
workload increased and she couldn’t even do that.
I made a vow, a promise, to be ‘here’ for a lifetime. Here in this space, here in this relationship, here letting go of different ideas and feelings. I promise.

promise is hope. Is something you are waiting for. Something that could be real till the moment that come true (or not). Its almost a fact. Its dreaming. Its trying to do/be something. Is just an essence
“Do you promise?” She looked up into his eyes. “I need you to promise.”
He nodded, “I do. I’ll always have your back, no matter what.”
She grinned, throwing her arms around his torso and squeezing him tight. “Thank you.”
Promise is a funny word, because for some people, it seems to just naturally imply the opposite of its dictionary definition. Much like “unicorn”, people hear promise and don’t think of it as a concrete concept, but rather as a deception.
A promise is something that I hold dear to me. I think that it is important to keep promises because they are your character. I promise to be the best and try to be the best I can be in order to be better. thank You for your promises because they model what is right and good. thank you for being there for me.
i promise to always love you. I promise to keep you safe and warm and show you that you are important, that you are valued, that what you say has impact and meaning. I promise to always give you my all and treat you the way you should be treated. With nothing but kindness, forgiveness and respect. I promise.

promises are made every day. as kids we’d say “pinky promise?” the truth is most promises are broken because we are not al perfect and we cannot keep everything. one great promise was never broken and thats God’s promise of sending Christ to die on the cross for us and to save us from our sins and give us eternal life.
Vows fall upon deaf ears. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health. After the first round of chemo she took one look at me, emaciated with my hair falling out by the lock, and she wouldn’t have me, or hold me. She wouldn’t even touch me. Two weeks later she was with another man.
The promise she made was a lie. It always was and always will be, regardless of what she said or thought that she believed. Her smiles continues, and her sadness was always expressed the same. Yet no matter how many times she attempted to communicate, she never meant to listen. She never meant to change the things needed to maintain her relationship with her daughter. She would never leaver her comfort zone.
“I promise you for a better future. I will promise you that everything will be okay.” She whispered into her child’s ear.
The mother caressed the back of Adaline’s head. Her cooing calmed the child from tears to a coddling slumber. The soft voice whispered comfort for tomorrow’s worries, even if they were momentary. For how could a mother ignore the cries of child? The cries caused by those close to her, those meant to be caretakers and guides into the world.
Cherry frowned as her daughter’s breathing regulated.
I promise…what a great word for the New York. A resolution a promise. Promises made, promises not kept. Is it easier to break a resolution when you do not think it’s a promise? Are promises to yourself not as bad to break while those to others are horrendous?
The promise of this day is not what I had hoped or expected. Still, it’s a good day. I am whole and happier than I planned to be. There is more wealth and richness than I looked forward to finding.

I wish I could rely on promises. I wish that everyone held them in as high regard as I do. I grew up with parents, siblings who did. I thought everyone did and had to learn the hard way. It has been a painful, painful lesson.

The best way to handle this difficult situation is just not to make promises. What happens will happen and I hope you learn to trust my actions.

Realistically a promise might just be the biggest set up for disappointment, but i rather be disappointed every time in hopes one day you’ll keep that promise.
