  1. take me to somewhere new,
your marroun jacket slung into my bag,
engraved with the coat of arms,
the body of my tavels inside.
    Leave once more,
and then sit on the edge of trevi,
fling a silver reflection over one shoulder.
    Everything is foreign,
    nothing is familiar.

  7. I tried to forge a passport once but I ended up mistakenly gluing a picture of my dog into it which the customs agent initially thought was funny but apparently lost his sense of humor when I said something conspicuously similar to Khmer Rouge while explaining my dog’s odd appearance where my face should be. Perhaps he had the whole “owners look like their pets.” think in his head.

This is a label torn from a can of beets.” I gasped, “That’s not acceptable?” His hand hovered near his holster. At this rate, I would never get to Lilliput on time.

  17. A passport is just a piece of paper, nothing particular. It is not an identity, it is not a representation of a human. How can a piece of paper represent our souls, after all? It is only a material substance that, in the end, is what it is – a tree.
