  6. I was well on my way to being obsolete. There was no denying it. Every day the people I cared about grew farther and farther away from me. I was contacted less and less. People brushed past me in the halls without a second look. I had already ceased to exist in so many’s eyes. And then you swooped in, asking me on a date. I promised myself I wouldn’t let you trick me, wouldn’t let you toy with my emotions. Then, on that first date, I spilled my heart out to you. There was something in the kindness in your eyes as I spoke that convinced me that at least to one person, I was still alive and well…and I decided to keep it that way.

“I thought so too, Cissy. Break is the best I’ve made yet. Newest model of an Android anywhere.” She grinned.
“Does this render me obsolete, Miss Abbey? As model C6, I realize I am not as advanced as he. I am ready to be powered down if that is what is required.” She looked at her creator. Abbey frowned.
“No way. And I’ve told you before, it’s Cissy, not C6. You’re my baby, and I ain’t ever going to power you down, kid.” She hooked the tall android around the neck, and pulled her down, ruffling her hair. “You’re here to stay, whether you like it or not. It makes no sense, but I have to keep trying because I want to change the world for the better, no matter how little it is, so that’s why I keep pushing myself so hard, but people don’t understand why I do all the things I do but it’s better that way anyway because this burden is mine alone to carry.
