  3. The lights in the hospital were vibrate and heavy on the eyes. The smell alone in the hallway was enough to make my nose wrinkle and my sight to narrow as I walked. Every turn either left or right, didn’t seem to matter as my path was already predetermined.

  7. fluorescent. Tiny rooms where the walls are made of wood and insulation, with nothing but a naked bulb hanging from the ceiling… lit? unlit? I leave it lit in my head so I can see the room.
I’ve seen many rooms like this. I used to tell people I was allergic to insulation or wood, stupid as I was, just so I could avoid going in there. Those rooms scared me. I’d think of being walled up in there forever, a body forgotten, nobody to care. That’s what scared me most of all, the last thing. Nobody to care.

  8. Harsh lights. They make me tired, I think. too much flickering. No one looks good under them. In case we didn’t look bad enough. She’s angry, I’m miserable.

  10. When I was a child, I spent a good amount of time with my family in India. My first memories were of the bright fluorescent lights that illuminated the rooms and the brightly colored walls. I’d see the occasional lizard as well as swarms of mosquitoes swarming around the lit areas of the room.

  11. Lights. Like the kind in a hospital in the area where you wait. Nobody likes the lights there. They’re too bright, too harsh. They show things that nobody wants to see, makes you notice things that are supposed to be kept hidden. Or maybe in a bathroom, the lights are too bright, you can see every blemish, every bad mark.

  12. High school. The lights in my classroom were fluorescent. I remember not being allowed to touch the lightbulbs because they were fragile. Once, one of the lights was messed up and we could see the waves going through it. How appropriate for science class.

  18. I really like lights. Especially fluorescent ones. But why should I write about a word that some one tells me to write about? Can I not choose my own word? why not my own word that means something to mean? Maybe thats what fluorescent lights are all about.

  20. I stared up at the burning lights and my pupils burnt. It glowed like lemonade and probably tasted like it too. Little lace moths flocked around the illumination and sheathed the rods like a delicate fur. Light filtered through the delicate wings and speckled my face as if from the canopy of a gossamer forest.

  23. The fluorescent lights were blaring and…well, they gave me a headache. I’d been working on this paper for far too long, and I was getting virtually nowhere. I got up and flicked the light switch, then returned to my work. That was better. But now I had to go to the bathroom. I wasn’t getting anything done.

  25. The light was bright, florescent. It shone through the room sharp like a knife. The light shone beauty, proving the existence of her life, her value, her days. Her days were fun, cute, and relevant to her goals. She was going to be a doctor: an expert in field. Life had laid down it’s blueprints.

  26. She caught my attention that one May 6th. She walked off that platform, looking like the travel had got the best of her; but she had my attention anyways. The way she walked like she knew exactly where she was – when she obviously didn’t – and the way she wore that fluorescent ribbon around her messy ponytail… it was all but perfection, yet she had me from that moment anyway.

  27. I hate this type of lighitng not only because it shows off every single flaw there is on my body but also because its in the doctors office. Im not sure anyone enjoys the doctor.. and if they do they are absolutely insane. I wonder why they created such horrid lighting anyway?

    by JuJuu on 05.01.2011
  28. It is a colour. I used to wear it a lot when I was younger. Especially when I lived in Portugal. It was fashion back then. Pretty embarrassing, but funny at the same time. I wish my friends back then warned me about it. But then again, they did the same mistake. The pictures tell it all.

  29. As i sat in the white room, the buzz of the fluoresent lights above was the only sound to be heard, besides my own breathing. What did they want me for? Why was i here? Was i going to die? Who was behind all of this?

those questoins kept circling in my head, around and around like a marry-go-round. I twisted and pulled at the hem of my blue shirt they had given me.

  30. green fluorescent screens that tower over me in this dark and cold cathedral of steel.
I try and stop my brain from turning over and over, so I can think and speak and scream to the top of my senses.

  31. The smell. So sweet, savoring, delicate. Making one be reluctant to smell for fear of over praising and being captivated by such a fluorescent scent.

  32. My bones are exposed. From across the room, his gaze feels like the fluorescent lights of a department store, drilling through me unsympathetically. I become bones and skin, I am a patient under the microscope. I swear my soul lies in there somewhere, but my soul needs space. It needs to grapple around in the darkness, it cannot bear this light.

  34. The fluorescent lights made her art project a nasty shade of pink, one that wasn’t that way in the workroom. As the judges walked around Casey got nervous. She new with this color pattern that there was no way she would win the prize. If only she had more time to plan. The bulbs flickered and with hope she grabbed a pencil off a nearby desk. Shooting it at the ceiling she punctured the light. Her display area went dark and she renewed her chance at winning.
