  1. Long division. I remember working really hard to get it in middle school and now I can hardly remember where to begin. It worries me a little and it still makes me feel like an idiot when the opportunity to use it comes up and I realize that all I can do is draw the awkward symbol that begins it and wonder where the rest went.

  14. At the corner, we decided where we would go. At the junction of our adulthood and our past, you flew down the corridor and I stayed terrified and riveted to the floor. It’s too late now to know where you’ve gone but I know only that our division was too sharp and too fast. I have spent nights wondering why you went the way you did and I’ve concluded that there was no other way for you to go.

  15. Divide. Mathetical, but also something that keeps us apart. Something that can be removed or rectyfied but is still there for a purpose. Most divides in our society are bad ones. Life without divides would be much better.

  21. apparently i’m supposed to write about the word divide. how long is 60 seconds, really, to talk about something so expansive and all encompassing. we’ve spent a lot of time being divided, in fact most of human history is strewn with the results of divisiveness. really, we can’t do anything about it. it’s too hard to deny our basic human instinct to hurt and harm those that are different from ourselves. One day, we can be we, I, and us all at once.

  30. I hate math. Mathematics has always been my worst subject. Division was the worst. It made so little sense to me, especially when they started making us throw decimal points in there and then fractions and all that other crap. I just couldn’t handle it. Divide and conquer my ass. For me, it was more like divide or fail. Divide or die. God I hate math.

  36. Divide and Conquer is a popular method for some of today’s politicians. Division is not the way however to sustain the lifeblood of our country. We must unite to find ways to work together.
