  1. Dial? dial who? I should dial my mother who just recently dialed my number, yet I ignored that phone call. I could dial my dad too since I haven’t talked to him in some time. I may need to dial a shrink because this is very odd what I’m doing.

  3. how many times can you dial someone? especially when they dont dial you back. why am i waiting for someone, specifically someone, to dial me. im frustrated on the dial. we dont even use dial anymore, its more like punch or press.

  4. with my new phone it’s difficult to do this… i just bought some gloves yesterday that have these little things on the fingertips that make it easier to dial with while wearing gloves. i’m not getting these gloves though until christmas, which in retrospect is pointless. whatever, i wanna go home.

  6. I want to dial the phone and hear a voice that answers all my questions about life. The other line with solve all my problems and tell me where to go from here: Mexico City? China? Back to the states? Everyone keeps asking me what’s next and I can’t answer… maybe that voice will be able to. Or maybe I should just figure it out myself.

  8. i love to dial the phoone – i don’t know if it’s the sounds of the buttons or the fact that when i’m done i get to talk to someone or hear someone’s voice. one dial i don’t like is the tone of dial-up for the internet – SOOOOOOO SLOW! it makes my skin crawl a little bit – but not too bad.

  10. I could hear the beeping of each key as it was pressed and I wondered if I was making the right choice by calling him so soon. He probably wouldn not even remember who I was. It was always like that.

  12. Dial…it could be a soap, it could be the action of dialing an old friend, someone you hate, someone you love, someone you wish was dialing you, someone who is regreting your call. The art of dialing is to make it seem intentional but not desperate. We worry more about what we will say when we dial someone than what why we are dialing that person in the first place.

  20. a red rotary dial phone was in our kitchen until 1998. i remember the day that phone finally broke. cried myself to sleep every day until sept. 10, 2001. then 9/11 happened and ive been crying ever since.

  21. Dial? Phone’s, which i really hate talking on cause i can never tell if the person is being serious or not. Dialing 911 in an emergency is like a second instinct for most people, eh? Sometimes it’s not even an emergency. Like when kids dial it for no apparent reason. I miss being a kid, carefree.

  22. The phone was left off the hook. He picked it up but there was no dial tone. Something was off. From movies he learned that no dial tone meant that someone had cut the phone line. What he didn’t know was even worse. The phone company had lost power and the phones were just down!!!

  26. you dial the phone, and then you call someone. If you are lonely you can listent to the dial tone. If you don’t hang up the phone properly you get a really loud dial tone and then you remember to put the phone back on the hook.

  27. Wow. You used to dial a phone. Do we still say dial a phone? Will our kids even know why we use the word dial, when they merely punch in numbers? TV’s don’t have dials either. Remember that feeling you had when there was a solid click bewtween stations, you knew you were getting somewhere. Now it’s just soap.

  37. I need to dial the phone. I don’t wanna. I have to call 6 parents and my doctor, and I’m too busy doing other stuff. Obviously I am off task now, but this is a way of resetting my brain so that I can think. I need a vacation! Thank goodness one is coming soon…but I don’t think it will be long enough.
