She sat their quietly until the sun began to sink below the water. As she finally gathered the will to move, a crane swooped down and glided soundlessly onto the water, shattering the glassy surface and sending ripples as far as the eye could see.

I could see the crane coming towards the building. I only had a few minutes left before the hostages could be completely out of the building. My body was numb, my limbs screaming for a chance to relax, but there was no time. Being a spy meant risking everything–even your own life.

Water flows, down the drain. Cold or warm, who knows? I don’t. Perhaps you do? I hope so.

From the driver’s cab, at the top of the crane, Darreb could see the world. He wasn’t supposed to be sitting there on the cold seat. It was all a dare, from his laughing mates down below. He could hear his older’s brother’s guffaw breaking the night air.

I was walking through the swamp as quietly as one could through marshy waters not to disturb the wildlife present, when I saw a crane standing on one leg getting ready to dip it’s head down to catch a fish.

Cranes. Pigs. All folded out of paper, sharp edges. Hanging by a thread on a piece of twig, put as a showpiece on the table, in the drawing room. Some lying as it is on the table. Plain colours. One a pale pink and the other a strong mustard. Origami.

The beautiful bird that sits at the end of the doc and eats fish and fly’s away slowly to the other side of the lake in the morning and night.
Something rare and awesome to see.

I believe it’s a bird. Or is it where you hang your hat? Who knows… It’s a word. Don’t think about it, just use it. The other will get what you’re saying. Won’t they? Well my friends do because they know me too well.

She craned her neck to see above the barricade. Not too far, and not too obvious, or they would see her.
How did this happen. Why hadn’t she left sooner?
Because she’d wanted to believe that these were good people. That someone would still come through. But all of them had known from the start.
