    by Thomas on 09.02.2009
  5. cigarette burns and coffee cups discarded on the rich jarrah veneer of the table, red wood gleaming and glossy in the light, as if it had drunk in too much water and now brimmed over with it. leaning over to pick them up i pinch the cancerous fume-holders in my fingers with disdain.

you are too good for this, lovely one, who used to grow in the forests and now adorns the home of someone more selfish. and using my sleeve as a cloth i tenderly wipe a fingerprint from the table, which seems to shimmer and brim with light even more so in thanks.

  11. Cigarettes suck. I don’t like them. I think they’re a waste of time and money, and at the same time a social hinderer for those who do not smoke. And if that was not enough, it takes concentration away from work like nothing else. The only thing they are good for is for smokers to get unauthorized short breaks.

  14. I’m a smoker, preferably rollies. I was visiting GunWharf Quays the other day, happily smoking on a bench, two middle aged women sat opposite me, with two burgers from the Carvery, they tutted, disgusted and appalled by my behaviour. I did likewise, and their audacity to sit opposite a vegetarian and eat a carcass. I suggested they exercise caution the next time they choose where to sit.

  16. The cigarette hung limply off his lip. He’d been waiting for hours and didn’t want to move till his name was called. Without warning the door opened and out walked a nurse holding a tiny bundle of his own flesh. He dropped the cigarette, emptied his pockets of the rest and reached out to receive something much more precious than any could imagine. Never again would he entertain himself with burnt leaves, his son was born and he would do nothing to hurt him, near or far.

  25. The foul smelling stick, created to while away the time between chores, kills. There is no doubt about it. It is an unattributable fact. Then, why do so many do it? Secret death wishes must harbor in the back of the smoker’s mind due to the oppression they feel from their mundane lives.

Its not that they weren’t sexy looking in movies or that the holders weren’t made out of valuable material, it was the lines, the aging the poison and the death that kinda turned me off…yep that’s what did it…the death thing…that and poison makes me sick…kinda a human instinct to vomit when ingested. Oh well, I like trying new things but I’ll stick to sex and booze instead!

  35. Did her attachment to smoking turn her into a selfish bitch, or did she smoke because she was a selfish bitch? Either way, I lost all respect and affection for her when I smelled the smell from her cigarettes in my baby’s hair, on my baby’s skin, and she wouldn’t even let me crack a window open to give him some fresh air.
