  9. If you simply assume without checking with the person concerned, there is very little that could be done to resolve the issue arising on account of that assumption.

I learnt it the hard way last May when I was in Kraabi in Thailand for an offsite held by my employer; the offsite was for making a Mission/Vision statement for the company.

  10. Don’t assume that you know what’s going on here. You really don’t. Everything you’ve ever seen, everything you’ve ever thought that you’ve “known” is nothing in the big picture. There are things outside of what we can see that are just too enormous, just too amazing, just to gargantuan for us to even comprehend.

And you know what? What is happening here and now matters more than all of those things.

    by Chris on 08.27.2009

  13. What is it to assume? Why do we feel that we can assume? When I asssume, I am using my experiences to make a story about what someone else has or will do. It is imagination, pretention. It is what we do, daily, hourly. Our lives can be full of assumptions.

    by Jen on 08.27.2009

  19. Let’s assume there is a reason I’m talking, that there is a motive for this tapping out of characters onto the white-space. Let’s further accept that one day a stranger will uncover these shapes arranged on a glowing field and unscramble their meaning, gliding these thoughts into the port of their mind. This is called “hope.’

Whether its the assumption that other people make about whats going on in my head or the assumption that i have that people actually care enough to speculate whats goin on in there. The greatest fault that we make is due to assumption.

    by AB on 08.27.2009
  33. DOn’t assume that you have anything to give this world, unless you are willing to offer all of yourself. Take a risk, make that jump. You cannot assume unless you are willing to leap.

  34. Some people think that assumptions are a bad thing. This isn’t always necessarily true. At times, it can make for good surprises when assuming that somebody will like something. On the other hand, people say that when you assume, you make an ass out of you and me. although this is the majority of the time for me, I believe that I still have a delightful gift of reading people.
