  3. I don’t have to alter anything. It’s okay to be who I am. Everyone rushes around to look the same, and be the same person. That’s not beauty. Beauty is in the imperfections of the individual. I don’t need to alter anything about myself to be beautiful. I may not be the most anything or best at anything, but I don’t need to alter myself.

  4. Alter that which is flawed, to be sure; check the locks, the pantry and under the floorboards. You may have left it there, to come back to, but now nobody will ever know where it’s gone. Alter that which is flawed, are you sure; that you checked the locks, the pantry and under the floorboards. Nothing was left there, nothing to return to and now nobody ever know.

  14. 7 years ago today, I spoke three words that would alter my life forever.

  15. Alter. Like changing. People alter their clothes. They alter their faces. They alter their houses. People like to alter things. Like nature and such. Forests: altered. Oceans: altered.

  16. Nothing stays the same in my world. When it enters, it must change. Everything. No pair of jeans, no book, no pen is the same after it comes into my possession. No person, I like to hope, for that matter, is every quite the same after they know me. I hope. I think. I pray.

  19. I stood in silence, taken by surprise. He had stopped speaking mid-sentence, and was now gazing blindly at the pavement. Was he feeling sick?
“Hey, what’s up? Can you hear me?” I asked, waving a hand before his glassy eyes. No response.
I sighed, shifting on my feet indecisively, and tried again. “Listen, I just want to help. What’s going on? Are you feeling okay?”
The man’s head snapped back up then, a grin bursting onto the grey countenance like a silent gunshot. I flinched.
“Okay? I’m just peachy,” a voice quite unlike his laughed, shaking hands reaching up to run through matted brown hair. “Just fuckin’ peachy.”
My breath caught in my throat, and I took a step back. This is not okay after all, I thought, feeling my nerves tense and sting. This is not okay at all.
I was speaking to an alter.
The stranger’s grin had not faded. The air was thick with gunpowder.

  22. Sometimes it’s extremely hard for me to alter my mood. I get in a fun, and I stay there. No matter what. Even if people try to get me out of it, I refuse to alter it …maybe because I’m stubborn and a bit of a control freak. I want to learn to not do it anymore though. I’m never going to be happy with another person if I’m not even happy with myself. You’ve got to love yourself before you can love another, they say.

Sometimes when I am dazzlin, I feel that I can conquer anything, money and wealth will come to me, and life will be wonderous and beautiufl. I would like to travel and see more than where I am now. I want to win the car at C3, it’s a ford fiesta. I have my bachelors degree in anthropology, and want to further my education. I want my million dollars now. I want to sing and dance, and enjoy every minute of this thing called life. I have no reason not to enjoy it now. I need to grab my cup o tea and write a book, mediate every night, and keep pursing positive energy into the universe. I want to be free, successful, and wealthy. I want to be wealthy with having my son around, successful with doing what I want and enjoying it, and make some good money to be comforatable and educated as well. I am 31, and I attract beauty, wonder, love, and sane people.

  25. Alter. Who likes to change? It’s the hardest thing we do in life. Yet is altering truly changing? Is it more of a shift. A tilt in perspective, in shape, in style? Not a true transformation, just enough of a shift to make a difference.

Good-bye, she told herself. She slid the curtain back over her face and waited for the alterations.
