He reloaded. It was a matter of time, a glint of the scope, a rustle of the leaves, and someone would die, and the killers forces would advance. He thought he saw movement in the brush at 1015m, he line up the shot, pulled the trigger, and earned his stripes.

I woke from a dream and felt as though I had run for days. Maybe weeks. I've only slept for a few hours, but I know I have to keep moving. They're behind me. They're always behind me. I'm not sure what that train was carrying, but of all the trains to have derailed, that's the one that ended the world.

It just kept running. I knew I had to catch it, but the moonlight was too dim. I could see it cresting the hill, the cow close by. If I turned my head just right I could redirect the moonlight and shine a light for my path. I was dead set on catching it. The Dish killed my brother, Fork. And I'd spoon out a heap of revenge by the nights end.

The last round clicked into place. A drop of blood that had pooled at her side, sticky against her skin, fell from the shirt. She fired. She hit it. But it didn't stop coming for her.
