"Mija, I'll be home soon, I promise" Mother put her hand on my ahoulder and drew me in for a hug. "I'll miss you though... You're always gone. When will I see you next?" She always did this, just randomly leave, and stay gone for weeks. "Don't worry, I'll see you for your birthday. I promise." She gave me a sad little smile like she really couldn't help it, but i don't know maybe she can, maybe she can't. "I need to go to the U.S. just for a little while. I have an important meeting for a few days and then I'll be home before you know it. That's what she says every time. Sometimes I'm afraid she won't even come back.

I said, climbing the hill. "Let's make our own path." And I pulled him behind me, golden brown hair and coral colored sun dress flowing behind me. My hair was probably in his face, but I knew he wouldn't mind. All that mattered was him and I.
oak
My breath and my tears caught in my throat as I screamed his name. I was alone, me and the oak on the hill. We spent so many days here, just passing time. The leaves turned from green to cold to brown and we didn't change at all on the outside but in the inside I guess chemical reactions are hard to see. The bliss we found in each other during hard times was just a catalyst, and it did the opposite of what we expected- it propelled us into hurt darkness after the reaction was done.
