It would be easy for me to tell you that losing you has broken me. With a million broken hearts in the world, it wouldn't be unusual if I were to join them.

No one went into the upper level of the old house. They said that it was unsafe, that the first floor had a concrete foundation and was perfectly alright, but the upper floor was rotting through from termites and age and no one was to go there. So, of course, I went anyway.
gone
It was gone. There was a little block of concrete where the house used to be, but the house itself - that wonderful, boxy, cramped little house - was gone. There were still houses on either side of it, and all along the block, and the absence reminded me of a gap tooth - it went there, there, there, gone, there, there, and it looked wrong.
