burning
I have a tiny flame living inside my chest. A flame Of unrequited, unsaid feelings. It needs oxygen, wants nothing more than to grow. But I keep it trapped. When the flames leap towards my throat, I swallow them back down. Words are the price of oxygen. I can't afford it.
checkmate
This back and forth banter. It's too much. Too cute. I was never one for flirting. Your pieces skirting across the board, back and forth. This game has been going on for far too long. I'll just tell you how I feel instead. Checkmate.
café
The coffee in my mug was too hot to drink so I let it cool while I watched you from across the room. You were too engrossed in your newspaper to notice. When my coffee had finally cooled enough to drink, you had gone and so had the novelty.
cliffs
It's impossible to know what's at the top of those cliffs. The fog obscures the destination and leaves you filled with suspense. The only way for you to find out what's there is to keep climbing. Otherwise, your story will end with a cliff-hanger.
