homeless
The man was always there, always on that same street corner. Huddled up drinking coffee and staring at the people passing by. "Sir aren't you cold?" she squeaked, looking at him. "Of course, but as you see I am homeless." He replied, "I don't want to burden anyone though. She handed him a hundred dollar bill and said "At least go have you a good meal, and call me if you need anything," writing her number on a card.
sisterhood
I read a book about the sisterhood of the traveling pants once. I never understood why us women always had to take things and make them sound dumb. Brotherhood, now that is really cool sounding, but sisterhood makes it sound like you're about to get into the middle of something you really don't want to.
barren
I was once a flower, blooming into love. You were the only thing I had, you fed me, watered me, took care of me. I was the only flower in your garden, or so I thought. I stretched my petals to find that I was nothing but a weed in a barren desolate garden overrun with chaos and pity.
