  8. Perhaps it was a genetic thing. I looked down at my hands again, feeling my cheeks grow warm with embarrassment as he jus continued to watch me with that quizzical expression. I didn’t want to explain myself. Didn’t want to try to make it better. Couldn’lt bear to look into those eyes. AAny type of confrontation would only reduce me to a stuttering, incomprehensible mess. That’s the way it had alway been. Perhaps that was genetic too, though I didn’t know how I would ever be able to tell for sure. It certainly wasn’t the same with my brother.

  11. There are things we have control over, and things we do not. Genetics have amazing powers and can do amazing things, but they can also be someone’s downfall – if they let them be. What we do have power over – the effort to change what we want to be changed – we can overcome the disadvantageous ones.

  14. The scientist was a master in genetics. Whether it was to help solve a crime or reunite a family member, DNA was his specialty. He always had a case he had to work on, sometimes multiple ones at the same time, one which led to both cases being connected. Today, however, was different. This case was more special than the rest. It was a secret though, he couldn’t tell a living soul.

  17. My genetics were of value to him- more of an obsession really. Half of him, half of the woman he so desperately loved and who wanted nothing to do with him. They were so important that he had to make copies-four of them. They looked like me, but they weren’t exact. Each one had a slight difference that made them slightly defective in his eyes. A too long nose, too dark eyes, a birthmark. They weren’t perfect, but they would do until he had the original. And now he did.

  18. Everything in our lives is about genetic, for that is the building block of all creation. We live and have our being not because of evolution ,but because of God’s creation.

It was part of him, had always and would always be part of him, just as it had his sisters, his parents, their parents; all the way back through generation after generation. Why that should mean a death sentence was beyond him. It’s not like they could help it, and even if he could, who would ever give up a gift like this?

  29. The vials of genetic materials crashed to the floor and the Skeleton King stood there holding up his bony fingers. If he could cry, he would. That was the last chance to return his skin.

  34. He shouldn’t exist- it wasn’t right. His eyes were a light blue, and his hair so light it was nearly white. In the new world, nobody looked like him, he was a freak. He was hidden away as a child, nobody was allowed to see him as his parents knew that if anyone from the government saw him there may be a second uprising.

Slowly but surely, I would lose the ability to walk, talk, write, and even breathe on my own. I would be confined to a wheelchair, given a respirator, and wheeled around almost like I were a vegetable. I was ready to die before the worst symptoms set in. My loved ones, obviously, didn’t want me to go just yet.
