The quiet group of 7 strong, mighty young birds, blue jays at that, realized after long trials of contemplation, agonizingly dripping the pain and confusion like sap off a tree, so slow and sticky. They finally realized after all that and a week of bingeing, they figured out that nobody reads their entry to oneword.com. All the sudden it seemed.

  19. was the first strike. It’s been awhile since i’ve been hit like that. My jaw rocks hard on its skeleton hinge. I pull my wrists up to my chin and hunch forward. My opponent backs up then comes forward his right hand being flung in a half circle. I push my forearm out to catch his arm and push my foot into his gut. He bends forward on my foot and deflates onto the floor. I catch my knees into the reverse side of his elbows and push my weight on them. Sitting up off him i smash knuckles into his face until they’re raw and bloody.

  20. In the blink of an eye, she saw her whole fututre. Laid out right there in front of her. She did feel some disappointment at knowing everything now, but the safety of knowing that she would have a family that she loved was satisfying, too.
