  2. I finally found success in my life. Join the Navy. check. Find a boy friend, check. Enjoy myself…

But then I realize that success isn’t about the status you hold and the things you have. It’s about how you feel about your life. I suppose I’m heading there, and I’m becoming happy… but I get confused sometimes.

  3. He’s dead.
    Are you happy?
He had a kid, a wife, a family.
    He didn’t drink. Didn’t smoke.
    Bland guy. Still human.
Someone cared for him. People cared for him.

  4. Success is using one word with Internet Explorer like this!

  5. What measures success? Is it what you do, what you make, how fast you achieve it? How do you know when you’re successful? Is it the people you’ve helped or the people who’ve helped you? Who even knows what is successful or not!

  6. I was never one to be into extra curriculars. In fact, I’d be very happy with a bag of potato chips, a comfy couch, and a HD television as company on a Friday night. But unfortunately, my parents did not think the same way. I mean, they never said it out loud and up front, but I got the message after a while. They’d pop in a casual “going out with friends tonight?” or a “you’d do great in soccer!” here and there. But I pretended to be oblivous. No way was I going to surrender to my parents like that. And if you think I was, well, you must not know me then.

As a matter o’ fact, I played as equally dumb. “Huh? Oh, no.” “Cool.” Short answers like that. Never adressing the situation.

The funny thing about it though, was that I kind of agreed with them. I do feel the sudden urge to do a jump or a kick with my friends every once and a while, but it’s usually brushed off as I shove another salty potato chip in my mouth and watch the first episode of season two in “Pretty Little Liars” on ABC Family.

…But what was it, that I secretly wanted along with my parents? Not to be productive, as I was very scholarly and I read in my bed up until midnight, and not to be active as I go to the park from time to time with my parents and I run around the playground at recess.

What was it? It was success, and success does not come easy. If you wanted it, you had to go down the hard route, and that was not for me. But I must’ve beat the odds because the night that I won first place in the swimming Olympics and gained my bestfriend back was the night that I was the most successful.

  7. Success was all he had ever dreamed of. He had sacrificed his social life, his family, the woman he had loved, all for the promise of more money, more acclaim. Now, as he stood in his corner office with its secretary and spectacular view of the city, all he felt was empty

  8. My work always falls just a little short of the mark; my dad’s Asian….

  9. what is this? i wonder often if my definition of success is the real thing or if it is a naieve idea i have conjured in my mind. i tend to follow the optimistic and the ideal trail when thinking of success and its almost like its a fake ideal… like yeah we all say this is the right way but practically and realistically it wont work, u wont be ok, u wont be stable… its like a cute thought like awwww look she wants to be a fireman when she grows up, so cute. y is it so patronizing if its something we proclaim to be righteous to work for? success is relative, obviously, but then why do we seem to think there are some things that just naturally fall into that category? like they are just a given? but is the real thing something that i shuld define on my own? wat is the truth of it? how do i determine it for myself if im second guessing it all the way?

  21. “Success breeds complacency. Complacency breeds failure.”

“Success is not a destination; success is a journey.”

Success is an ideal. It is something that must be held out in front of us and strived for, like a carrot on a string leading a horse. This way one will live in continuous excellence and success.

  22. Success is what you make it to be, it’s what will make you the happiest in life, or it’s what will satisfy you in life, we are all different, some crave money and power, others crave happiness and peace of mind. Whatever it is, we all shape our success by the type of person we make ourselves to be.

  23. success is not an optinon unless failure’s in there too. We learn from failure, and our mistakes, to inevitiably become successfuler than originally planned. I can say it, but i don’t believe that at all. IRONIC

  34. I dreamed about it for a long time before I realized that it was a hell of a lot closer than I’d ever imagined. To have success so close all the time and yet to never realize it was like the day I crossed into an alternate universe and discovered I’d been brushing about against millions of parallel universes my entire life, never even realizing it. Take a look around, and look a little closer

  35. Ssuccess is defined differently for everyone. Many people think of it as getting the right job, the right income, the right family or the right home. I think success isn’t so easily defined, it doesn’t fit so neatly into borders. I think it’s the feeling you get when you wake up in the morning and you think “this is the life I want to be living, this is the person I want to be.”
