  4. the stripes covered her face. No longer stripes of shame, they were badges of honor, road maps on the greater story of her life, signposts of wisdom and honor.

  5. stripes like the movie i saw when i was little? all the shirts on sail at anthropologie. on sale, excuse me. prison. horizontal making you look bigger than you are, i’m not worried about my ass just my stomach. i have a sweater with horizontal stripes, grey, black, and a different grey, i wear it all the time, i am sometimes lovely in it and sometimes a wintry wreck.

  6. stipes remind me of a giraffe. I realize that giraffes have more of a splotchy spotty thing going on but that is always what i think of. Perhaps it is because they are tall and skinny like your average run of the mill stripe. If i had a giraffe i would name him Rambo, giraffes are always peaceful… munching along to themselves and with a name like rambo he would be a funny little oddball.

  7. Lines, they are horizontal sometimes, and sometimes they are verticle. They can make you look fat and then again skinny. Most commonly they are black and white, but sometimes they can be all sorts of colors even rainbow.

  9. There were stripes on the curtains in the hotel we stayed in in Montreal. They seemed an odd choice for a room that was entirely done in heavy wood and dark colors. The curtains were a splash of bright, almost garish color. But, actually, they suited my mood. I was not feeling sophisticated, mature, stylish. I wanted to dress in jeans and a bright colored t and wander the streets of the city, looking for local color and places to eat local fare. It was unusual for me to have such a great amount of free time, not to be rushing to this meet-up, or that talk, or another dinner meeting. I spent the afternoon just wandering around, going wherever my impulse took me. I celebrated the end of the afternoon with tea at a quaint shop on my way back to the hotel, and much to my surprise there in the gift shop was a striped mandarin collared shirt that suited my mood perfectly. It is the shirt I wear now at home whenever I have some free time to sit and reflect, and have a cup of tea.

  17. Stripes – I have lots of stripey clothes. I was thinking of spots when I first saw the word ‘stripes,’ haha. But, stripes can be nice – they can be disgusting. Stripes are everywhere, we hardly notice them though. Jack: (3) “Daddy has stripes on top of his head.” Hahahaha.

  18. and he didnt know why he wore them, he just did.
they were horizontal, always, and regardless of what he wanted to make of himself, he knew he couldn’t change this.

  25. The stars and stripes forever, Uncle Sam in his striped pants, now those are icons of patriotism. The stripes on a military man’s shoulder show his rank, his achievement. Stripes can make you look fat or skinny. Stripes like a picket fence make a striped shadow.

  26. I love Stripes. Jailbirds wear stripes that are black and white. James wears stripes that are red and white. He loves that striped shirt so much that he wears it all the time and doesn’t even wash it. So it looks good but smells bad. Today I am wearing stripes as well. They are they simplest pattern and for that reason, they win.

  27. Why do you have to be stripes and I am solids? I thought this was always funny when we played pool because now I am so in love with you, and all you gave me was a stripe of your heart before you left me.

  28. Three of them on each shoulder. Gold and White. I know they’re on other shoulders but it’s mine that are important. They don’t make you go faster. But it’s good to be part of something. I can recognise others by the coloured stripes. All part of the same club.

  29. stars and stripes forever, yeah, right. That’s all I heard when I was a kid, growing up in the ethnic neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, the city of the working poor, the city of unthinking patriotism and religious fervor.

  35. I like stripes, but lately they seem to remind me of emo tweens or old navy commercials. But they are certainly not confined to those categories. They can be nice to wear, except black and white stripes, which are horrid and make you look like a jail bird.
