  7. i know that all things, it can be argued, stem from other things. humans stem from other humans. plants stem from other plants. animals stem from other animals. there is no question about this, yet why the word choice of stem? Stem is the part of the plant that other things are picked off of. therefore, one might say, the leaf was picked off the stem. now it is clear why we use stem for this terminology.

  16. There were a bunch of seeds and stems in this bag. It took me one hour to go through and sift out the weed. I really think the guy who sold this stuff should have given me a better deal. At least it will grind up well. I’ll put it in the pepper shaker.
