  3. Shower the people you love with love. Corny, yeah, but that’s how I feel right now. I miss him…Damnitt, I knew anything I’d write would come back to him, but in any case – we should all shower those we love with love, shower those around us with kindness and caring. What else is there, really? Nothing – just how we act with those we come into contact with, and how those actions make us and them feel.

  22. I looked peering into the soft wet skin that she wore proudly. I asked where were you last night? She explained in a hurried and forced nonchalant manor that she was too drunk to drive home so she stayed with her friend for the night. A story I had heard before. Several times over. She turned and faced the wall when she was explaining what bars and what people she had met the night before. Standing outside the steamy glass I touched it as if I was touching her. Suddenly the splashing water that had faded into the background was absent and so was the trance I was in. Before she saw me I turned and headed for the door. I opened it and watched the way the air outside the door played with the steam in the bathroom. I turned around and watched her step out of the shower and ask me to grab her towel. I grabbed it and handed it to her. I watched the water on her skin disappear as the towel soaked it up. She was still talking. I didn’t hear her, I rarely did. What’s the point.

After five years of dating, one year of being engaged, here they were. She, in an elegant white gown. He, in a handsome suit. Yes, they were married. And she never had felt happier in her life.

  40. The cold water hits my face and startles me out of my thought. The water is damn near freezing, but I’m not even shivering. It feels fine. In fact, the shower feels good. I’d go as far as to say it’s the best I felt all year. And it’s just a cold shower.
