  1. a recipe is something you use to follow when you want to cook something. many recipes are shown on The Food Network and also the Cooking Channel. I use recipes a lot and always like to get my measurements exact so that the dish will turn out near perfect. Recipes also help me to create some of my own personal dishes.

  4. Recipes are the
    make up of
what you need for something to work.
It may not be what you love
    but sometimes
    if something works.
    Than your recipe is enough.
    What is enough?
    Enough is when you can
    go to bed at night
    and know that you
can deal with it in the morning.

My grandmother left them for me after she died, but if you want to know the truth, I only thought green eggs and ham existed in the Dr. Seuss’s children books. Anyways, back to the recipes. I cooked one, it was the old clam chowder, real hard on the old bubbler.

  12. This was a recipe for disaster. He had leaned in and quickly touched my lips with his own. Then it was all over. My best friend, the boy I had a crush on in middle school but now felt nothing for, gave me my first kiss. Whether or not it really counted didn’t matter. It was over with. And I had to keep my lips shut.

  19. A good many metaphors could apply to him – a recipe for disaster, an accident waiting to happen, nothing but trouble. He was unstable, unapologetic, and unhappy – and he seemed to like it that way.

  21. A lifetime of recipes. That’s how Maude wanted to be remembered. She suspected that she was well on her way, simply by the sheer volume of cookbooks, purchased and homemade, that lined every surface in her small country home.

  23. It seemed as if hundreds of recipies were scattered across the table with no particular arrangement, piled so thickly you could hardly see the wood beneath. A young woman shifted through them, pausing to push a lock of hair out of her face, occassionally swaering under her breath.

  29. I learned the recipe for heart break many years ago. I was a master chef in my kitchen, brewing all kinds of discomfort and hurt for myself. It was so simple really, but I fancied myself some sort of professional; able to break any heart possible, though I always did the best breaking of my own. After a particularly perfect recipe, however, I hung up my apron and vowed never to put together the simple recipe again until I knew it would make something truly beautiful rather than beautifully tragic.

The recipe? Simple. For the most painful heart break, all you need is to let yourself care about someone else. The hurt will come soon enough.

  30. RECIPES. for disaster, salt and pepper and a dash of life. recipes are the reason that we make things, the reason. the reason. the reason. the reason. water and salt, a recipe for an ocean. an ocean. an ocean. an ocean. not what i had in mind really, that’s the reason that recipes come about though. not the reason, but the rhyme. not the tempo, but the time. recipes.

  31. recipes are for people with no imagination, they color inside the lines and make up stories about paying their taxes. I don’t like recipes, they try to boss me around and tell me what to do. I’d rather cook from the heart. People protect recipes like secrets, hiding them away so noone will know what they say and what they make.

  32. The one thing she coveted more than anything in the world…were those damn recipes. “My grandmother gave them to me…and I will give them to my grand children.” Little did she know, those recipes would collect dust, for years to come, after her untimely departure from this realm.

  38. Recipes never ever turn out quite the way you want them to. No matter if you use the exact same ingredients or do it the exact same way, no two will ever be the same. This is the beauty of recipes. It allows for a unique interpretation each time one is made.

  39. Recipes are great. They are guidelines by which to make glorious foods.

But are they only for food? Are there not recipes for life?

    Guidelines by which to live?

I think it’s quite possible that there are. Maybe not religious guidelines, or legal ones.

    But recipes for life, nonetheless.

  40. Cooking? No way. I can’t cook for my life. I can microwave something, but even that confuses me sometimes. What I usually do is just make canned soup on the stove, but chicken noodle smells like dog pee and that grosses me out. Also, I’m always impatient and if I’m cooking, that means I’m desperate and really hungry cuz I put it off longs as I can. So, I usually don’t cook it super long and I’m afraid I’ll get more worms cuz of that.
