Oh wow, I logged on here after midnight last night so this was the word. Dang it! How uninteresting! I promise I will never do that again! That’s a bad promise. Sometimes I like to do the words more than once because the first is like a practice round and the next times around I sound like a genius!

“I promise to you that I will never leave you,” said Sid. “I promise to always be by your side and help you with anything that gets in your way. I promise to keep you safe and healthy through this war. I am going t keep you in my house to hide you from the Nazis. You as a Jew are in danger. I promise to keep you alive.”

I promised myself to treat myself right this year. Many would call that a resolution, but call it a promise. On the surface, it might sound like a simple thing to do, but after I thought about it for a while, I came to believe it will be the hardest thing I will ever do. How can one “treat one’s self right”?

If I was given the choice to only keep one thing in this life… It would be quite simple, with little to no debate at all. A promise.

Promises are very often broken. I fear making promises because I don’t trust myself with them half the time. (This is the same principle behind my determination to never go into the medical field.) The last time someone promised me something was last year. I still cry thinking about the aftermath, so I try desperately and constantly to push it from my mind.

I promise to stand by you, through thick and thin. I promise to stand for you, if you ever fall again. I promise to stand with you, through whatever you may face. And I promise to walk with you, through life’s unending race.
