    The dog sniffs
    He listens

    Protect

  4. I left the city that day to patrol the area. My job was so draining that I expected to go home that evening to simply sleep. Ever since she left me my days feel like they go on forever and my nights are filled with alcohol and blurred memories. I thought about talking to her but when ever I held my phone in my hand my heart would beat faster with the anxiety of rejection, and I would cowardly shove it back into my pocket.

  6. nerd patrol is the first thing i think of? how odd. i was just thinking about being horny and how whatever i write will probably have to do with that but the idea of a nerd patrol, some group of jockish jokes finding nerds and presumably humiliating them for being smarter and more interesting than they are, well that is not sexy at all.

  11. Wandering isn’t enough, nor wading the taut drum surface of your mind’s lake. (Hiding the darkness of your depths, the depths of your darkness). No. You must patrol your shadowed corriders, your map-less maze that leads to all your different selves. Patrol. Stay alert. Take note. That way, and only that way, will you be able to find your way back out again with something of value. Tip-toe too close to the edge, and you’ll be left mezmorized and nothing more. But patrol your way around your mind, and anything is yours.

  12. Some days he found it hard to care about the lives of others. He risked his life every damn day on the force.
He hated patrol. It was the worst part of the job. He was the bookish type of guy who preferred paperwork rather than the frightening street prowl. He didn’t like the idea of risking his neck for some conspiracy-theorist who would later bitch about him.

  13. patrolling far
    patrolling wide
    intuition be my guide
    but this ancient skill

    and self doubt
    so instead
    we shut it down
    so filled with fear
    aren’t we darn clowns!

Lavonne lit a cigarette and Zaine could see the orange light from far away. He cocked his gun and waited.

His wife was rather irritated with him; every night he’d been getting home around three or four, trying to slip into bed unnoticed. But his late-night returns were more than noticed. They were being brought up for discussion at the breakfast table in the morning.

The squirrels are a bit big, so I just keep an eye on them, but it’s my job to keep those little buggers out of the house. There are shrubs to prowl and chives to nibble. Or perhaps I will just lounge here on the step.

That have Steven and his other two partners just enough time to pick the lock on the back door, get through the back of the store and to the display case that held his future. Two weeks ago they cased the joint in the usual fashion.
