  14. I felt overjoyed when I saw that little piece of wood coming to light. My hands digged deeper into the sand and although it was a matter of seconds, it felt I was digging for an eternity until I could pull out the heavy treasure chest from its dark hideout. A long journey finally came to an end, at least that’s what I thought. I would be rich, I would have power, I could be everything I wanted to be. Then I realised I was already rich, I was already powerful and I was already the person I wanted to be. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here. I looked at the treasure chest, dragged it back into the hole and started to fill it with sand. Then I left and never looked back. I was already on my new journey.

  15. She was overjoyed that moment the beautiful girl glanced at her with deep loving eyes. Squeezing her hand as if it were a balloon that she never wanted to float away into nothingness. We both hoped that the moment we felt with in our bones wasn’t lost into the nothingness that is the sky.

  16. Biriyani day!
How could one possibly not be happy? I think the greatest combination of things is that you’re single, you’re reading something nice, it’s Sunday, Monday isn’t threatening you, you’re given Biriyani and you will overdose on Bollywood at night.
    Yay!

  17. Everytime I think of the declaration of independence, the phrase “pursuit of happiness” seems to stand out and dangle and dance in front of me, as if teasing at the inability to achieve happiness and alluding to my life of pursuing it.

  19. I sat there, overjoyed as she stood across from me in the hallway. She was bedraggled, covered in a combination of her own sweat and the sweat of the grinding bodies at the party she had just left. But the important part was that she was here, before me, looking shy and self-conscious in her hand-me-down dress.

  20. She saw my face the instant she turned the corner. She lit up brighter than she had been in days. At least I assume she had. I haven’t seen my sister in over 6 months, but we kept contact online the best we could. She’s been going through such a tough patch, but to see her smile like that lets me know that this was at least something she could feel fond of.

  24. Seeing him…I was speechless. He looked the same as he always had, just a bigger version of the little kid I’d once known. I suppose I should have been overjoyed to see him, but in reality I was a little dismayed. He was an attention seeker, and everyone knew we’d once been friends.

  25. I cannot remember the last time anything made me feel overjoyed. That’s not true, I remember every time I have ever felt overjoyed. Incidentally each is shrouded in the inevitable disappointment that follows. There is no worse feeling than realizing just how badly you have misjudged a situation.
